Auburn fans - thoughts on him as a coach, recruiter?

Seems overqualified to be a position coach.

Only had a year with him but I think he's a pretty good coach. No feel for him as a recruiter. I mean he had to trick people into going to Iowa State, so there's that.

I agree. Seems like it would be a great hire.

Seems like a home run hire for Bielema in the short term.

I'd say he only had one year recruiting the Southeast (came from Pitt before AU, I think), but I imagine he recruited Texas pretty heavily @ ISU.

Bielema can recruit coaches for sure.

Problem is, they keep leaving for greener pastures

I think it shows a lot of positive about him as a leader, but sucks for continuity. These young kids often make the mistake of committing to the coach, not the university.

Excited but Bert better keep a list of DB coaches close by because if he has any type of success he will be gone for sure.

Paul just guaranteed himself an NFL job next year.

Great hire for Bert as usual.

Definitely overqualified for a position coach but it's a little late in the game to snag a coordinator position.

Good catch. Not sure how he recruits since we only had him for one year and it was under Tuberville

I would imagine we have him for a year or two before someone nabs him for a DC job. Still, its better to have coaches that other teams want.

I don't think he's even 50 yet so I'm sure he still wants another crack at being a HC. He was a finalist for the Texas State HC gig just a month ago.

Great coach though. Your DBs are going to want to work hard for him. Has to be one of the best position coach hires made by any school in the past several years

Bielema is very good at finding coaches, the guy obviously does his homework. If he could just start off a season hot instead of the team idling until mid October...
