Similar mobility. Mobility and throwing off of it are big parts of AJ's game. Especially throwing deep of a play action and scramble.

That statement simply doesn't match the fact that he was 2nd in the country in yards per completion and threw 30 touchdown passes.

About everyone. And AJ is not blowing people away with the plays he is making. He is just managing the game and not screwing up. No one has AJ pegged as the #1 pick because he is so great. He is good but not anywhere near the best QB ever.

I don't think he is the "best ever" but your attitude it typical. AJ is "just" a game manager.

Am I sniffing glue or did everyone stop watching AJ before the BCS title game LAST YEAR? Most of his TD passes were deep throws.

Yeah, Luck is more mobile than AJ. That was a silly statement

However I am baffled at people saying AJ isn't a great QB because he doesn't have to win games. That is a silly statement too. Are y'all saying that the only great QB's play on crappy teams? You can't play on a great team AND be a great QB? That's stupid.

The defense stopping the other team and causing momentum swings. The defense getting the offense the ball on short fields and the RBs carrying the load. The thread is about AJ being the best QB ever and he is far from it. He may have alot of NC rings but its not because he is so great he is blowing everyone out with his QB play like great QBs do. He just isn't causing his team to lose by turning the ball over.

Um, he does more than not turn the ball over.

2011 - 66.8%, 2634 yds, 8.3 ypa, 16TD, 5 INT
2012 - 67.2% 2933 yds, 10.8 ypa, 30TD, 3 INT

That's a lot of TD's last year, and only 3 int.
They had 37 team rushing TD's last year. That isn't relying heavily on the run as you imply. A little above 3k rushing yards too. That is balanced, you can't do that without a good QB.

He's not the greatest ever, but he's doing more than

I think JPW and McElroy were both pegged as "game managers" and so now the Alabama QB - whoever that may be, and regardless of stats that prove otherwise - will be known as a "game manager".

I don't think anyone who has watched him play recently would consider him a game manager.

The best QB's ever are also game managers. I think people downplay how important that trait is in a QB.

What you don't want are donovan McNabb's who don't know that the game will end in a tie after first OT after YEARS in the NFL.

It's as simple as haters gonna hate.

He throws for lots of yard, lots of TD's, very few INT's, and makes good decisions, and ultimately does everything you need to maximize your chance to win.

Sounds like everything a QB is SUPPOSED to do.

What people fail to realize is that a game manager is exactly what a QB is supposed to be.

We live in a society where movies are nothing but explosions and people want razzle dazzle constantly.

I'll take boring conventional play and a mountain of wins and championships any day.

Don't hide behind other idiots because you made a fairly retarded comment.

Luck gained 957 yds on the ground at Stanford (5.8 ypc).

McCarron is sitting at -28 yards on his career.

I said early on he was a great QB. I can only think of 1 other QB in the conference I would definitely take before him.

You're definitely right about that. I was just pointing out that that's not all he does for us. He's certainly a great manager of the game, but he also makes some pretty awesome throws in big time games/situations.

At Stanford he played against air.
