Not only is Forde a dumbass,

Judging by the response I don't think so. I think he got exactly what he wanted out of that "piece". Even if it is ridiculous.

He was just putting the Forde spin on Franklin leaving if they were talking about football instead of basketball.

And what exactly is that? Are you sure you didn't get what you wanted? I see a large percentage of people calling out the write-up for what it is.

A hack piece that was done to stir up reaction?

He got the reaction and attention he wanted. That's not being a dumbass, it's being a cynical a-hole.

Just another in a long line of national media ignorance regarding the SEC in general and Tennessee in particular. Anybody who knows UT basketball knows UT fans demand a lot of their coach. Compare the way Coach Martin was treated to the way Coach Jerry Green was treated and Martin came out easy. And Green was a white southerner whose teams were more successful than Martin's.

We treated Coach Wade Houston better than Jerry Green and Coach Houston managed to go 5-22 his final year.

Jerry Green? Deserved far more than we gave him and we gave a lot. Ironically, the media shredded us over him too.

What Belle said. That's two people that have missed it though. I feel bad that my sarcasm didn't translate. Would it have helped if I added "And Vandy is so racist they went out and hired a black head coach and added a black OC. Forde could have a field day with us"?

Forde is an idiot.

Black's can be good enough to make up a far greater numbers in both football players & basketball players, but I guess he thinks they should make up the same percentage in both sports coaching ranks also, which is a racist thought on his part.

Exactly. I'd wager the man knows exactly how much bs he's spitting out, but values the clicks and reads far more. #ModernMedia

Dale Denton-First let me say that Forde is ignorant, but with that being said, sometimes the bestfor the job does not get it. For example, when Tenn. was looking for a football coach, they bought in Dooley, followed by Kiffen, yet I think Charlie Strong applied. Who do you think is a better coach then and now for the job?

While I totally disagree with Forde on the basketball issue, football is a different animal. But football is getting better with hiring black coaches for major jobs instead of the mid-major or D-1AA jobs. Sumlin, Franklin, and Strong will either help the cause of minority Head coaches at major universities or hurt the cause. JMO

If Auburn and Tony Barbee was about racism, it was all in Barbee's favor and he collected $7.5 million for it. He might very well have been hired partly under the theory we need a black guy to bring in some good black players to drag us out of basketball hell. But two and a half seasons in everyone knew he sucked and needed to be fired, but we couldn't fire the black guy that quick. So we pissed away another season and half to make it look fair.

You are a terrible alter.

I've been here less than a week. The fact you keep calling me an alt, does not bother me. In fact it worries me that this board consumes so much of your daily life.

No. Kiffin came first, then Dooley. We tried to hire Strong post-Dooley. He had the offer and was very much the fan favorite but he turned us down.

It was Auburn that Strong had voiced concerns/racially tinged allegations about years earlier.

when we fire Anthony Grant this is going to come back up, and in a lot of ways Alabama has to deal with this due to our state's rather violent history

everyone who follows basketball knows he will be let go because his teams play piss poor basketball, but we will always be the school that had George Wallace stand at the door

we've accepted it, we've grown and become something different, but there's no avoiding it when it comes to the press

it's going to come up and we'll be fine

the two major schools in Alabama have a black head coach and a head coach of Jewish descent

Mr. Forde we've come a lot farther than you give us credit for

So when a Forde article comes out bashing UT, he's totally right, but when he calls out the whole SEC, he's wrong?
