We have made the NCAA Tourney 8 of the last 10 years and made the Sweet 16 4 of the last 8.

1. Football is king.
2. We're lucky to have a good coach with recruiting connections in the northeast.

1 and dones definitely have an impact on college basketball. UK is the poster child for such a program, and I don't fault them (Cal) for that. If you can load your roster with studs for a year, go for it, it's within existing rules, so not knocking UK for that at all. It's all about winning afterall.

The rule needs to change though because there is no doubt it dilutes the product put on the floor as a whole.

football is such a priority at most schools in the conference that less resources go to basketball. If a program doesn't have fan support or institutioual support, its going to be bad.
Basketball is third banana to baseball at some schools in this conference.

It makes the product better. Those one and zones aren't going to college if not for the rules being the way they are.
