Hope you enjoyed your time in Columbia.

I have a soft spot for the Gamecocks. It's fun to watch Spurrier's act, and we cheered for them at the SECCG last year.

I have to admit that we did not get to experience much of Columbia, other than the stadium and the Courtyard Marriot (for about 6 hours). We were just exhausetd at the end of the game and could not get up the energy to check out the nightlife. You can also imagine that we got to the stadium without a whole lot of time to spare.

Every trip is a little bit different. One of the compromises to this trip is that we didn't get to get completely immersed in any of the locations since we were hustling from place to place so much. I would not do that every trip, but it was fun this time around. It was like being in the amazing race. Plus, the drives were relatively short and a good time to shoot the breeze with the fellas.

As far as the WB stadium goes - it had good noise and I like that sand storm routine. We were right beside the band and I enjoyed that. Not crazy about how close the seats are together - wow get to know your neighbour.

The game was close, which made it interesting. I really enjoyed watching Latimore (Garcia not so much). Clowney is not normal.

The biggest dissappointment of the whole trip is that we missed the 2001 deal, by about 30 seconds. We made it to the stadium with plenty of time, only to get into a people jam at our gate and miss it. We came into the stadium just when the flag bearers ran onto the field. A real bummer considering the effort we made, but overall it was a big accomplishment to get there on time for kickoff.

I am headed back to South Carolina in the spring with my family (Kiawah Island). I have to figure out the distances, but I am considering taking in a Gamecocks baseball game during that trip. That that will give me another chance to see Columbia soon.

How long were you in Starkville and did you get to try anything out or just swoop in and swoop out?

Glad you guys chose to stop by Starkvegas.

Our Starkvegas experience beat our expectations. There was a ton of energy in the stadium due to it being a Thursday night game. I liked how it was so accessable. From what I could see, the MSU fans are very welcoming to visitors. I hope you don't lose your bells. They gave me a headache, but it's fun tradition.

Breakfast with Paul Finebaum was fantastic. He was extremely engaging. Personally, I like that he is so prepared to express his opinions. It's not everyday that you get to sit down and ask someone like that questions. The whole breakfast, including the time we spent with our Shoal Creek host, was a highlight of the trip.

What kinda shape was Shoal Creek in? I know it's been pretty dry around there this summer. Love that course. Such a shame what happened with the owner's comments prior to the 1990 PGA Championship. That course should be hosting a regular PGA Tour event.

Shoal Creek

Shoal Creek was fantastic. The people could not have been nicer to us. I have played some great courses including Pebble, Pinehurst No. 2 and Kapalua and this was my favorite. Every hole is different and beautiful. The greens had been areated a little more than a week before, but it was otherwise in great shape.

I gather they are trying to get the tour back, and did have a solid senior event this year. I really hope it happens for them.

For all of you who live in the South, Thanks for your hospitality. You do it right.

I went to Université Sainte-Anne in Church Point for a little bit of french immersion several years ago. Y'all were every bit as courteous to me as it seems we were to y'all. Glad y'all had a good trip.

Unfortunately, it was a swoop in swoop out deal. Luckily, I was able to get to L'il Dooey in Columbus a few years ago.

That's great. We were playing golf during his show, so we didn't catch it.

Morgantown is definitely on our radar. Couch burning is cool. We almost took it there for this weekend's game.
