It’s free money! No work to do. Just say yes and you get $600. Don’t even have to pose for pictures.

Easy call.
If I were a player I'd say yes even if EA says "you get nothing". Sure $600 is a lot to an 18-21 year old, (or used to be) but with costs of things these days many players could blow it all in an hour or less. Being immortalized in a game is worth more (to me) than even the amount NFL/NBA/MLB players get for their games.

Might sound dumb, but a school opting out of this game could negatively impact recruiting.

It would be idiotic. The game is free advertising for both schools and athletes.

The game will never come out if they start individually negotiating. Give an offer and if a team wants to hold things up then move on and leave them out: Let the teams that want to be bitches deal with pissed off fans until the next release…

Not only that but the game could easily expose the true NIL value of a lot of these kids. I can tell you right now, I don't give a shite if their name, image, or likeness is in the game. That's a bonus but one I can live without. I DO care if the right color Orange, Smokey, and a proper Neyland Stadium is in it.

I would 100% opt in. Just to be able to say youre in a video game would be really cool. Granted, without the hard copy they can shut the servers down, so it isnt as cool as it used to be.

but you know, if they do tie in the transfer portal, and keeping promises to recruits, this game has potential to be really fun and frustrating. They can do so many things outside of gameplan that would make it worth playing for a long time. Obviously game play is important, but I really want the depth to the game, and college football in general.

what are NFL players getting paid for Madden?' And the numbers we were given were from 2019, it was disclosed that they got, I think, about $17,000. And then a current NFL player told us that he got a check for $28,000 this year for Madden. . .

Hence, I wanted to start a discussion if NCAA will eventually pay out more.

The NCAA now has 134 teams with 85 scholarship players each, which is 11,390

The nfl has 32/53 = 1696

Yeah but of those 134 teams, most of the money generated in game will probably come from 25 schools or so imo.

Arch Manning has apparently decided to not be included in the game.

@AnwarRichardson
Multiple people have told me Texas redshirt quarterback Arch Manning will not opt into EA Sports College Football 25. I'm told Arch is focused on playing football on the field.

Man, people are having fun with this in comments. He won’t see the field either.

It’s not like he has to take 3 weeks off and go do shite for the game

Just sent the tweet saying he opts in and that’s it

Jesus he is so soft. Get your $600.. not that you need it since he gets millions in NIL.. and be in the game.

Playing on the field? ROFL The practice field maybe. Arch Manning had a 71 rating on the game and got butt hurt.

Epic waste of a legacy.

game. Now, I’m reading, some teams might not opt in (reject the initial offer) to drive up the offer.

Literally no school is doing that. All FBS schools have been confirmed for the game.

have a bad feeling this will be a one-and-done game.

They have a contract for 5 years.

It'll likely be built on the Madden game engine (which is awful).

It’s not.

EA sports having to pay players and deal with threats of opting out for entire schools, I don't see this sticking.

They already confirmed they are only doing the 85 scholarship players.

I didn’t say schools I said the team aka the players. How is schools relevant to discussing NIL?

More players might do the same. $600 or for free, only gamers would even care.

Coming to this conclusion on a player for not opting into a video game that hasn't been released in 11 years is wild

Every team that avoided the Manning saga will look back on it like a near miss mid air collision

They have used the same engine for at least the last 20 years or so.

They were always an iteration behind Madden on the engine. It allowed them to work out the kinks from whatever Madden broke before bringing them in to NCAA. That’s why it always felt like a better game.
