FALSE. It is a genuine embarrassment to the SEC and we should feel bad for a long time. I personally banned myself from this board for 2 weeks out of shame.

Meh. Screw the SEC.
This is what a football team gone in the shitter, and a 31 point loss by your powerhouse basketball team will make you feel like.

On the plus side, after that game, we got to witness a Mizzou fan commit message board hari kari with a 10 page pron thread.

Fans wouldn't feel that way if there wasn't a general care about the league as a whole. I am not sure that league pride is as prevalent in other conferences.

You nailed it with this. A mixture of harassing a rival and pride that we beat other conferences.

I actually think most other schools in the SEC, (outside of South Carolina) really don't mind Mizzou. The Rant just likes to give each other crap and try to make their team look superior....why so many on here care what oher fan bases think of their team surprises me. And what caused so much antagonism between South carolina and Mizzou escapes me.

Could be right. But Scrooster was getting on you guys pretty hard awhile back, and I suspect he started a major war between the fan bases. Love him or hate hm...he gets results of one kind or the other!

The SEC is the only conference that has fans of the Conference itself. I am a MS State fan first, SEC fan next.

even the demi-god saban has layed eggs at uab, iowa, la-Monroe and others. don't worry about it. yes, SEC fans will give another team shite over losing non-conference games.

also, at lose you didn't lose to Ohio State. NO real SEC team has done that.

I couldn't care less about the SEC. I never hoped Texas or kU would do well. Its like saying "the team I play more regularly can beat the team that you play more regularly, but we aren't going to play." It's dumb.

Are there teams in the conference I hope do well occasionally, sure, but mostly out of pity or if I have money on the game. The same way I cheer for other teams that family goes to.

Just a personal opinion.

No, this is what the entire conference turning on you in 2010 feels like.

In reference to the brand value, it's also intramural. If, say, an Ohio State fan came on here attacking Missouri (or any SEC team), that fan is likely to get backlash, not necessarily because people are fond of the given SEC team, but because Missouri may be a bunch of imbecilic meth-head Yankees, but beating that into their head is our job. Outsiders from inferior conferences are not welcome to join in.

In the immortal words of Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman, "Only WE can treat our pledges that way."

Edited for accuracy: It's Boon who says, "Only we can treat our pledges that way."

We all want SEC teams to win out of conference games because it makes the league look better and our own team look better when we beat you.

That is true UNLESS you are the rival of an SEC team or a team that our team goes up against in recruiting. Then, we want you to lose every game and fall into disarray.

There is no real conference pride. It only exists in relation to making our own team look better. The difference is that SEC teams get that and other conferences don't.

And its wrong. The strength of the SEC brand is a moat between it and all other conferences.

I genuinely enjoy watching all the SEC match ups on Saturdays.

This wasn't the case in the B12, I couldn't have cared less and I spent most of my Saturdays doing actual productive things. Now I'm stuck in front of the tv all damn day.

Also, living in Cali I got to see maybe half of Missouri's games, now I get to see every game. I used to watch a lot more PAC games as well, that's gone by the wayside too.

It really is a whole different deal. My B1G/Big12 friends now all hate Mizzou, because of the SEC. They don't understand how I can be all in on the SEC so fast. Especially my Nebraska friends. They hate their move, and all think it was a mistake. Meanwhile my OU/OSU friends all want out of the B12 and into the SEC.

They all jelly as frick.
