Sure, he was an abject failure at Florida. Yeah, he was horrible at probably the easiest place to win in the conference. Ok, so he managed to coach his players to block each other. I get it, he lost a game by 4 TDs where the opponent only gained 119 total yards.

I get all of that, and it's not good but let's not forget this guy is a defensive genius. A guru of sorts. He was a hot DC name this offseason. So maybe even if he isn't cut out to be a HC you at least know he is going to turn your defense around. After looking at some numbers I can see why SC is turning over the keys to Boom.

Here is what he did at Auburn.

Total D
'14 #9
'15 #13

Scoring D
'14 #10
'15 #11

Wait....he actually made Auburn's defense worse and parlayed that into another head coaching job?

frick, never mind. I'll stick with my first thought

At Florida he also had Dan Quinn and DJ Durkin as his defensive coordinators which I'm sure helped.

Maybe Durkin is the actual guru?

I'm actually impressed by his career path. Be a total loser at the easiest job in the SEC. No matter, still a hot coaching name with those looking for a DC. Make a shitty Auburn defense actually worse. No matter, still in the time of 1 year you've got another HC job in the SEC.

Are you trying to make yourself feel better about hiring Barry Odom as HC?

Yes, he is.

Muschamp is a gamble. Nobody is denying that. With the right staff, however, he could be a good fit here.

At least Muschamp has experience and the opportunity to learn from his past mistakes as a HC. I'd take that all day.

He's a regular Lane Kiffin. Minus the charm and pedigree.

Coordinators love to work for a hot headed psycho.

Auburn should have hired him then.

Wait, about the time you guys fire Gus he'll be coming off a couple 4 win seasons and have made even more mistakes to learn from.

This sets up perfectly!

I'd have been okay with that. I've said it plenty of times.
