10 schollies and 1-2 year post-season if Freeze resigns and most of AD staff goes firesale; or instead of firing Freeze et al., Ole Miss pays +$25 million fine.
Don't see that happening...

So your comparing to what's in the screen shots and reported in NOA to what happened at Penn State?

The investigation will take over 2 years. Miller and Barney will be fired/resign. Ole Miss will end up losing 2-3 scholarships a year for 3 years and be put on probation. They will also have a 3 year bowl ban. The bowl ban will be lifted after 1 season.
The main fallout would be if Ole Miss were to cease paying the players to sign. Top tier out of state talent stops going there and they go back to a normal level of recruiting expected with that programs history.

That is a good point. Even if you assume no NCAA trouble, surely you must also assume that OM will not be stupid enough to continue to pay players. That will dry up a resource (and will likely result in some current players packing their shite and going elsewhere).

No. I'm comparing the media's reaction to and widespread public knowledge of a player admitting to taking money from coaches on live TV during the NFL draft.
Who cares what font/color the messages are? He clarified what the reporter was asking about, said they were true, and then said yes after the reporter asked directly if he took money from coaches.
Perception is everything. What you guys did obviously isn't comparable in terms of morality. But in terms of the NCAA's public perception, this is now by far the biggest case for them since PSU given it all happened live during the draft and now a youtube with a billion hits.

Schools have been caught giving far more then rent and power bills. You used PSU as a comparison why if the infractions are not comparable?

Indeed. Plus there are force multipliers here:
- the Freeze clean-program, Christian act; and
- the fact that the NCAA is already negative on Mississippi (see thread about NCAA looking to prevent MS teams from hosting baseball regionals due to Religious Liberty law).
Ole Miss is positioned, politically, to be an easy target for the NCAA.

I just explained that. Because now everyone in America (not just the people who follow college football) know about Tunsil cheating and admitting doing so.
It's comparable to PSU in terms of public scrutiny on NCAA.

So the penalty should be off of if it is public knowledge and not the actual infraction? To say PSU penalty is a comparison makes no since just off them being public knowledge.

Excellent point. Outside of Mississippi, no one is going to come to the defense of Ole Miss.

Exactly. The NCAA will not take heat for punishing Ole Miss. They have a regional brand at best. The majority of the fan base is in Mississippi and Memphis.

I posted this in another thread, but it bears repeating here. Freeze talks before the draft about changing the way things had been previously done at Ole Miss. He even said he might "shed a tear tonight". I bet he did...for different reasons.
He is a hypocrite of the religious kind. This country will tolerate hypocrites, but they will not tolerate religious hypocrites.
OM is an easy mark for the NCAA. Unless the SEC comes to the defense of OM, they are likely in some deep shite.

But, you can't compare cases. One of the biggest gripes people have against the NCAA is their inconsistency. Arkansas had a couple players get overpaid a few hundred dollars one summer in Dallas for work at a booster's trucking company, and the 3 year investigation/witch hunt hurt. Teams negatively recruited against us telling prospects we would be banned from bowls, and we had several good prospects flip. This could hurt Old Spice in the regard alone.

Ole Miss will vacate the victories over the last couple of seasons. Loss of 2 scholarships per year for 2 years.

This dovetails with the recently passed religious freedom bill. People want to see Mississippi punished in some way. Now you have an elitist school caught red handed cheating. The NCAA gets the rare opportunity to look like they are taking the high road by absolutely crushing the school. People who know nothing about sports and football will nod in agreement.

Yep. And that is not to mention the flag controversy. Ole Miss is positioned to get skull drug over this stuff.

Not a bad idea...especially since this in the #1 story in the sports world today.
I have seen it mentioned on regular network news. Caught the beginning of Rusillo & Kanell. It was their first topic...I ate lunch...an hour later back in the truck and they are still talking about it.
Rusillo said for the first time he can remember, he cannot tell you who was drafted where...he only focused on this story last night.
