Thats just it .......where do you draw the line. Next PETA will get their way and no one will have a live Mascot. Which should be up to the individual school (Provided its properly cared for of course)

During the TV coverage of the FL-Bama game all the people tailgating made it sound like that was a big deal that they ate alligator. FL Smoked as well as Deep Fried Gator Tail is abundant around here!
Tourist trap that it is, Gatorland in Orlando has some amazing alligator selections at their grillhouse.

Arkansas State went through a similar situation a couple of years ago when they were forced to change from "indians" to something not "racist" and decided on "red wolves".

The hell it will. Athletes don't choose schools because of mascots. They go choose schools due to coaching, prestige, etc. Ole Miss isn't having a problem recruiting.
I don't care what Ole Miss chooses as a mascot, it won't change the fact that a 5star would 9 times out of 10 choose Alabama or Florida over Ole Miss. It's not because they think we are racist...those recruits see the campus when they go on visits and see it isn't like some schools make it out to be.

The only reason we're going along with this PC crap is because other schools are negatively recruiting OM with this shite. A mascot won't get us a recruit but it will prevent us from losing a few

if a KKK rally on campus didn't wreck your class with negative recruiting then Col. Reb won't. If I'd have to guess the people who belittle the supporters like RN48 are most likely pretty liberal.
