Just heard this on ESPN. Damn if true. Someone like Drew Richmond could have come in handy right now.

Is it four guys that started a game? Because you're making it out to seem like you only lost Tunsil. I thought for sure you lost more than him.

Its these kinds of verbal gymnastics that get programs in trouble.

Every single offensive lineman who started the Sugar Bowl from last year is being replaced.

All returners on the depth chart *combine* for 36 starts, which is 107 among 128 FCS teams; just because you suit up for a game or two one year, when another guy is hurt, doesn't mean you are a seasoned starter. One of the key 'most experienced' guys (8 whole starts) in 4 years is coming off an ACL injury, as well.

Read something interesting today

The task of replacing Tunsil becomes even more daunting when you compare last year's offense with and without him—a comparison made convenient by his seven-game NCAA suspension. Against Power 5 opponents (and Memphis) without Tunsil, the Rebs averaged 2.7 yards per carry, allowed three sacks per game and went 2-2. Against Power 5 foes following Tunsil’s return in Week 8, Ole Miss averaged 5.3 yards per carry, surrendered 0.8 sacks per game and went 4-1 down the stretch of the regular season (and were a fourth-and-25 away from 5-0).

Better than Mizzou. We only return 1 O-Lineman with previous starting experience.

At 3 combined starts we're ranked last in the nation. The sad part is, they're reportedly a lot better than last year's crew.

Pinkel's refusal to start younger guys definitely cost us a few games.

Thanks for explaining this. I haven't really followed OM so this topic was getting confusing with the differing comments. And you're right, the verbal gymnastics are not only unnecessary but also something that become such a habit that you can no longer simply and clearly tell the truth.

Honestly, I have no idea what the purpose of obscuring the truth regarding their OL was all about. It seems a really stupid thing to do.

Our starting OL while Tunsil was out for 7 games was this:

LT - Fahn Cooper (Gone)
LG - Javon Patterson (Returning)
C - Robert Conyers (Returning)
RG - Jordan Sims (Returning)
RT - Sean Rawlings (Returning)

Lost some talent, for sure. Won't be easy to replace. But we're not replacing our entire starting OL.

Freeze started seniors in the bowl game and then promptly pulled them for the real starters. Most coaches do similar things in their final game.

Check out the post above showing the difference with tunsil and without. Then imagine taking out your best olineman (cooper) of the remaining group.

Last year's offense without him: Dropped 40+ on Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

So why did you start an entirely different OL in the bowl game? That seems odd.
