Probably due to the loss the week before.

Was hoping for 9 wins this season...fell one game short.

Still not a bad season with all things considered. Losing Treadwell destroyed our offense. He was a key part even when we had no plans to throw his way. No depth on the OLine and a few injuries(tunsil injured twice this season) put a stop to our run game and made it damned impossible for Bo to run our offense effectively.

How much will losing your best DBs hurt you next year?

I don't care what you say about your DL (which was solid), those DBs were your rocks IMO. Golson and Pruitt were a great duo and allowed the rest of the defense to play aggressively. They were comfortable on an island.

Is CJ Johnson coming back for his senior year?

From an experience standpoint, it will hurt a touch. The guys replacing them are equally as talented.

We have good talent stepping in their place next year...obviously, you can't replace their experience....but we'll have good guys to replace them.

and our Dline also allowed the rest of the defense to play aggressively. They'll more than help out a few new DB's with a good pass rush.

He is. Between him, RnK, and Haynes...you're looking at a very dominate pass rush. Problem is...they're all more pass rushers than run stoppers. Hopefully the LBs will be able to help stop the run. We lose Bryant and Shackleford. I'm more worried about replacing those two than the secondary. They were our best players against the run...

What about offensive line? That was your worst unit this year and without Tunsil looked completely helpless. I know Freeze is recruiting well, I have not looked at details though. You guys have some young guys that are going to step up there?

BTW, Tunsil is a fricking monster, hope he comes back full speed. Pleasure watching him play.

I believe CJ said a month or so ago that he was coming back, could be wrong tho. He's very undersized for his position and not sure he has the speed of a lot of 3-4 guys so his draft stock won't be too high. Golson and Prewitt were definitely the heart of this defense. Their replacements will not be as good from the start, but might be more talented. Tee Shephard has a good bit more size than Golson and before his injury, he was said to be our most talented defensive back. Prewitt's tackling and leadership will be missed, hopefully CJ Hampton is better in coverage, but anyone who watched Ole Miss this year knows we will be missing those 2 as well as Robert made the defense go.

Trust this coming from an LSU fan, upper classmen that were team leaders are tough to replace, regardless of the talent level of their replacements.

We fricking deal with it every year

We have a couple of stud, young OLineman that we're, obviously, hoping to step up next year. Problem with this season was that our most talented OLinemen(minus Tunsil) are freshmen or RSFreshman. Just not ready yet.

Our OLine should be improved next season........should. A couple of our starting OLine were recruited by Nutt & Co. and likely wouldn't have been recruited by Freeze. Not that they're aren't good enough....but they're not the type of linemen that Freeze needs for his offense. We're hoping that guys like Conyers, Christian Morris, Rod Taylor, etc. that more fit Freeze's offense will step up next season.

Its rare true freshmen lineman on either side are physically ready for SEC football, so the delay in getting them ready is normal.

Obviously exceptions are CRob and Tunsil, but they are freaks.

I think if the OL is much improved, your team will be better. That was the achilles heal all year IMO. Well that and Bo Wallace having schizophrenia.

We still have very vocal, mature leaders to replace them.

CJ Johnson will be a huge part of the defense next year not only on the field, but in the locker room. Both Nkemdiches are also very vocal in their leadership. It's not going to be easy to replace someone like Prewitt, but it can be done.

On offense, we will have our main leaders back in Tunsil and Treadwell.

As for replacing our DBs - CJ Hampton will slide in for Prewitt and it just as talented, if not as seasoned or vocal. Hopefully he'll step up during the offseason. Replacing Golson with Tee Shepard and Tony Bridges we should barely miss a beat. Tee, for sure, is better in coverage and was about to take one of the starting CB positions before the season but he got hurt.

The defense will be as good or better than 2014.

Offense will depend on young OL stepping up. Tunsil will return at LT. Rod Taylor should be much better in his sophomore season after showing flashes as a true freshman at OG. If we have a couple more underclassmen step up than that should alleviate some of the depth issues we had on the line this season and allow some pieces to move around that we just didn't have the luxury of doing in 2014.

A lot of people point to our undersized backs as the reason our run-game suffered, but it's really on the OL. Our backs are fine. Walton is one of the best scat-backs I've seen and is lethal coming out of the backfield. Wilkins is a bigger back and showed some great dedication and skill in his RS Freshman year. We also have Akeem Judd coming off a RS and he'll be a bruiser.

The biggest question mark is at QB, but I'll be honest - Kincade gave me confidence in teh TCU game. I can't hold the Arkansas game against him because he was never supposed to be a freshman phenom and that was a bad, bad situation for him and Buchanan be put in. I pray one of them beats Kelly for the job. I'm hoping his presence just makes them push harder and win the job over him.

Overall for 2014 I'm satisfied with the direction we're moving in. Outside of the Arky and TCU atrocities we played well despite the shortcomings at OL. There's reason for optimism for 2015, but it will hinge on how our QBs and OL progress in the off-season.

Their season is best understood by looking at Robert Nkemdiche's season.

Just like Nkemdiche, Ole Miss looked good and like they could do something, but they weren't actually good and didn't really do a whole lot this season. Something to build on, though.

Thoughts?

Ole Miss is going to become who they were before. The 6th or 7th team in the west. I think that they are at least 25-30 years away.

If not for one fluke play at the goal line I think Ole Miss makes a real push at the West title and the SEC title.

Football is like that sometimes, a fluke play can make or break your season.

When things are ultra competitive success and failure are often on a razor's edge.

I'm the same way. The NC was fun I suppose, but I didn't get anything else out of it. In the grand scheme of things it means absolutely nothing.

Cool way to pass the time and socialize, nothing more. I feel sorry for those that stem their happiness on it.
