Ryan Buchanan, set to be a junior in 2016, has reportedly decided to give up football. He told the Ole Miss Spirit that he will stay in Oxford at the school but no longer participate in football activities.
“I came to the conclusion a few months ago that football would not be my future and it was time to start applying myself 100 percent to my future,” Buchanan said, via the Ole Miss Spirit's Chuck Rounsaville. “It's time for me to find my passion beyond football.”
Buchanan appeared in 13 games last season as a holder with limited action at quarterback (he completed just 8 of his 13 pass attempts for 96 yards with two touchdowns and one interception) but his departure leaves Hugh Freeze with just three scholarship quarterbacks for 2016: Kelly, Patterson and redshirt freshman Jason Pellerin.

Ole Miss down to 3 scholarship QBs, but with Kelly returning and Patterson arriving, they should be fine.
Best of luck to the young man.

Was literally just about to start a thread about this. Ryan is a family friend of ours. Trolling aside, I hate that we never got to see him as the starter

So now they give personal sanctions to backup qb's? Damn...

Yeah with Kelly returning Buchanan was never going to play, smart move by him.

I'm surprised to hear that a cfb player is capable of exercising common sense when it comes to the limitations of their skills.
It's sad when juniors declare and don't even make a practice squad. then what do you?

Yeah I can assure you there was no shady business needed to get him to OM. Lifelong rebel fan. I just wonder if he would have been able to get a starting job at any of the other places that offered him

Hope he is successful in whatever he does. Always seemed like a good kid

Confirms what we thought. Shea isn't going to RS and wil get some PT this year. I always liked RB.

Well from the sound of it he wasn't going to be the starter and possibly not even the back up QB. As a junior its time to start seriously looking at your life after college. Concentrate on your studies, land a good job after you graduate, and shoot for the white picket fence lifestyle.
There are much worse things to be then comfortably middle class.
