I saw the below picture on my Facebook timeline.

I am guessing the Sun Hearld is a news site or newspaper in Mississippi. I went to the website through the link on the FB post to see if this was a bad joke and a photoshop. But sure enough there was this picture plastered on the front sports page. And, like the Facebook post said if you scroll down the page to read the article it looks like the man is chasing then eating the chicken. LINK to Sun Herald sports section.

This at the very least is a very very bad product placement design. But, don't these things usually go through editors for review before being posted live? I would think someone would have had to sign on on this...but no one noticed the product placement? With the South's history and a news outlet not wanting to be associated with promoting stereotypes that someone, some where would have noticed this before hand and changed it.

Are you referencing the KFC banner? If you see a black football player and a KFC ad on the same page and immediately think of racial stereotypes, you're probably the racist one. That's a big jump to make.

It looks the offending ad has been removed as I do not see it when I click the link. I know several people in the post's comments said they were going to contact the Sun Herald. So maybe they took the ad down.

ETA: The ad is back but it seems the product was shrunk and moved more towards the side and not centered.

Auburn has literally gotten football recruits because of Chick fil a's presence on campus. What are you even talking about?

I just know I have heard of the stereotype and people seemed upset about it on FB.

Bingo!

Stuff like that only "offends" people who are constantly looking to be offended or offended on someone else's behalf

We have so many things that have happened at our school that would give you ammo for this kind of stuff and you try to infer racial overtones based on an ad placement for a paper from the coast?

You missed the point. But to be fair, everyone loves fried chicken.

When the ad stays still and there's a black man with is mouth open gradually getting closer to the fried chicken as you scroll it's pretty hard not to connect the dots and say "oh shite, we've got a stereotype here".

I think it's pretty funny

I don't think everyone gets the same ad? And this is a reach.

I didn't make the FB post. I do think the placement shows lack of thinking at the least. But, people (a lot in MS) were upset.

My thoughts too. Seems like someone should maybe moved the ad to a different place? Either way I laughed and will probably use this picture to piss of some SJWs I know. Anyway...yeah.
