Why did he have no interest in SEC schools? I would have though the Mississippi schools would have been all over him, as well as Alabama.

Anyone have any insight to his recruitment and what led him out of the state/area?

Just me guessing but I don't think his mother was a big fan of Ole Miss and he didn't like State. He wanted to stay close to home (USM) but got offered a shite ton of money by Texas and Oklahoma so he couldn't turn it down.

Doesn't mean anything, aTm was buying cars for other program's recruits during the 80s.

No one has ever cheated more than the SWC and Big 8, before or after.

This was the problem. It wasn't that the SEC didn't want him, it was that the boosters for the Big 8 and the SWC were so far above ours in terms of what the pay scale was for a top tier athlete, that no SEC school stood a chance.

We offered, but Switzer outbid everybody.

We still bid on many players, but in an auction market you can't get them all.

Ole Switzer would wait until they were enrolled and on campus to give them the keys to a new trans am.

You see similar programs at other schools located in the south east.

Damn sure did Juice. We've got to be the only program in the history of college sports to get put on probation for a fricking ham.

Alabama recruited him pretty hard and at one point thought they had a chance but in the end it was all Oklahoma and Barry.
