Maryland is more "Deep South"

Holy shite...no. Just no. I dgaf what they did during the War of Northern Aggression...that shithole of a state is 1000000x more Yankee than Missouri will ever be.
My daughter lives there and the place is God awful. Rudest, nastiest, most horrendous assholes ever. Worse than when I lived in Connecticut for a couple of years..and that is saying a helluva lot about how awful Maryland is.

Plus their state flag is an assault to the eyes it's so damn ugly.

Maryland has one of the ugliest stadiums in college football. The randomly placed, tiered upper deck is atrocious.

NC State would love nothing more than to give the finger to Duke and UNC...

Maryland is Big-10 now. As is Rutgers.
I don't know what they were thinking.

They were thinking that the three states (New York is included for New Jersey for some reason) those schools are in have a combined population of 35m people.

And for all those cable subscribers, the Big Ten network is included in their basic package and therefore are paying the conference for it.

Despite the numerous threads on here about conference expansion and the 'fit' with the conference, it's about dollars and cents. That's why the SEC took A&M and Mizzou (and their combined 34m people). And it's why if the SEC were to further expand, it would be into North Carolina and Virginia rather than another program in a state that's already covered (Texas, Florida State) or Oklahoma

VA Tech is not coming. Their elite boosters want no part of an SEC schedule or SEC arm race. They know they don't have the resources to complete with the Big 6.

This was during the Beamer transition out and it could change if Fuente gets them back.

Would love to have a North Carolina team back on South Carolina's schedule permanently as a home and home, or annual Charlotte thing.

It's been a while, but we do have a history with NC State.

Could learn to hate East Carolina.

I think you guys, a lot anyway, underestimate that team.

Heck of a fan base. Not sure they could sell out a 100,000 seat Tennessee stadium every weekend, but they could add 10,000 seats right now and fill it without even doing a marketing campaign.

I've been to Maryland. Several times. My best friend lives in Belcamp, MD. They're wanna-be Yankees. I have to believe Missouri is more southern than them. Not that I care at all about these sorts of things but your statement is asinine

You probably get the Pittsburgh TV market with them... and other areas up there that might have a lot of WVU grads. Cleveland maybe?

SEC is never going to get any ACC colleges in VA or NC.

alumni wouldn't support that.

I like the idea of NC State and VT. I think they both seem to fit in with the culture of the SEC.

Put both VT and NC St. in the East, and move UT to the West. This lets Bama play UT every year, and could make UT VT's permanent East opponent. Would be a huge draw for both fanbases since the school are so close.
