As of today.

Considering that each SEC team made 40 million last year.

LINK /

Virginia Tech made 26 million
Virginia made 26 million
North Carolina made 26 million
North Carolina State made 26 million

Oklahoma made 30.2 million
Oklahoma State made 23.4 million

*the Big-12 still has contracts for revenue distribution between the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma.

For perspective, West Virginia had to pay over 20 million dollars to join the Big-12 as a penalty for leaving the Big East.

They literally made $0.00 for two years straight.

What teams would jump to the SEC right now to bring us to 16 teams.

Our money and prestige is literally yours to have.

Just make us stronger...that is all we ask for.

Maryland is Big-10 now.

As is Rutgers.

Talk about some bad additions to the Big-10.

I don't know what they were thinking.

We don't need to make the same mistake.

We need to do what is best for the Deep South.

We need to get to 16 teams until this whole "un-even" crap gets us to.

16 is balance.

It is perfect for sports.

Missouri and Auburn needs to be flipped and we need to add two more teams.

A pod system would be inivative and unique to the SEC.

The "best" of the "best."

Not as many as you would think.

Louisville, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Clemson are all not going to get invites because their respective state TV markets are already locked up by other in-state schools

Texas wouldn't because of the Longhorn Network and the proportional revenue sharing system set up in the Big 12ish.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are only coming as a package deal, which is unlikely because of the TV market of Oklahoma being so small.

Virginia Tech spent a lot of political capital to get into the ACC. It wouldn't be easy for them to bolt for the SEC without Virginia, and Virginia would probably rather be in the Big 10ish assuming the ACC wasn't an option for them. Not to mention the whole TV market thing again.

ECU would jump to the SEC, but I'm not sure they would 1) get an offer or 2) be able to accept because all of North Carolina's public universities are under one umbrella which has Chapel Hill at the top.

NC State while more likley to get an offer also has the issue that ECU does of being a public North Carolina public university.

Duke is not going to leave the ACC for the SEC.

West Virginia would jump to the SEC but they aren't going to get an offer if TV markets are the benchmark for getting a invite.

Not even sure who else would get an invite.

So we can stop asking this question until cable television packages join the dinosaurs

I can assure you there are more rednecks in the backwaters between D.C. And Baltimore than Virginia and North Carolina. Maryland is more "Deep South" than Missouri. Hell half the men in the state fought for the confederacy after Federal troops fired on armed militia in 1861 in Baltimore.

What did East Carolina make? We need the North Carolina market. I know they don't seem like much but they have great fans, travel well, and are down right nasty mean.

South Carolina entered the SEC in 1992 with no national championships to speak of. They now have 10. The SEC money will help ECU grow, might take 20 years but they would rise up

North Carolina State is a perfect SEC fan-base and University.

They have insane fans and a rabid stadium for the SEC to build upon.

I like them!

They are perfect for the SEC.

They might need some time to learn, but we can do that for them.

Let's do it SEC!!!

These two are the prize and VT is a nice consolation if UV does not come.

What does this mean, in your context?

quote:

Oklahoma made 30.2 million

Plus $5.8 million for their third-tier TV rights for a total of $36 million.

quote:

Oklahoma State made 23.4 million

They also got a $30.2 million distribution along with however many millions (two or three) for third-tier rights, so somewhere in the range of $32 million - $33 million.

quote:

For perspective, West Virginia had to pay over 20 million dollars to join the Big-12 as a penalty for leaving the Big East. They literally made $0.00 for two years straight.

I hate to be a difficult smartass, but I don't think this is correct.

The Big 12 (read: its schools) gave West Virginia a $10 million loan, half of which was very low interest, with the other $5 million forgiven (but they got a lesser payout for a while).

West Va had its Big East revenue distribution withheld to make up the rest of that $20 million, but I don't think they went a whole fiscal year without a conference distribution.

quote:

The Mountaineers' share of revenue from its current league, the Big East, is expected to be in the $9 million range and that will be withheld as per the $20 million deal cut to allow WVU to leave the conference and join the Big 12 after June 30.West Virginia was included in the Big 12's 2011-12 bookkeeping, however. That's because the school received $10 million in the form of a loan to help pay the settlement with the Big East. As reported back in February, the Big 12 gave the money to WVU with half to be repaid with interest and the other half to be forgiven. That interest will be between 2 and 3 percent and the school will begin repaying the $5 million in annual $1 million installments in 2016, the first year WVU is fully vested in the league.

I go to see my brother and his family in Gaithersburg all the time. We spend a lot of time on the Patuxent and around Chesapeake Beach.

North Carolina State is perfect for the SEC.

I would love to have them for 40 million.

They are insane when it comes to celebrating championships.

Perfect University in NORTH CAROLINA!!!

West Virginia, with a bit of money, might be a good asset.

I actually like that state.

Virginia Tech would be ideal, however.

But, don't know how much money it would take for them at this point.

I would absolutely love to have them in the SEC.

Trips to Blacksburg would be epic.

iNCeST hasn't won a conference title in a major sport in 25 years. They are the only P5 school that has a streak longer than like 12-13 years. They are pathetic and have a horrible inferiority complex.

UNC and UVa/VT were the talk when people thought the ACC would fall apart.

Also, to the guy who said Maryland is like the Deep South...you're an idiot.

If we are getting into that market it must be ECU or NC state. UNC and Duke control the conference, it would be like leaving your own company, that you own to work for someone else

I don't see an opening in Virginia because I believe state legislation has them joined at the hip. But for the TV markets it may be worth it to take them both.

West Virginia is interesting. Is their TV market worth it? Population is only 1.85 million
It's Mississippi I north

I think North Carolina State would do well in the SEC.

Chapel Hill has too much baggage right now.

We don't need that in the SEC.

We don't "have" to "have" North Carolina at this point and time.

Best regards in the ACC.

No one likes cheaters.
