USCe's athletic facilities aren't on par with Alabama's...particularly Williams-Brice Stadium..
When was the last time you were in Columbia for a game?

There's no excuse for a program as successful as the Gamecocks are to only have 18 suites in their football stadium.
Yes there is- we finished the expansion before the luxury suite craze hit the nation.
Its the same reason ATL is building a new stadium- the Georgia Dome was built before the boom in luxury suites and couldn't accommodate the demand for them with expansion/redesign.

I should have realized what I said could be taken wrong. I was referring specifically to football facilities, which is after all, the focus of this thread. You can't deny Alabama has the edge there.

That was then, this is now. Premium seating is the future of sports. Not just college sports in general, or football in particular. In your own division, both UK and Mizzou are in the process of upgrading their stadiums.
I'm saying, get with it. Money should not be an issue. The Gamecock football teams are coming off back-to-back 11 win seasons. You're state is booming economically, as I already noted.
Time for USce to get busy, IMHO. I will Edit my previous post for clarity. No disrespect for USCe football intended. Quite the reverse, actually.
I'm saying your football team deserves better facilities is all.

He said that if he had top 5 classes every year then his expectations would be much higher like Saban then 2 SECs in 8 years wouldn't cut it.
I know this doesn't fit in with the narrative you're trying to craft, but conference championships aren't the only metric for success. Anyone pretending that winning 3 natty's in 5 years with top recruiting classes is somehow doing less with more is being disingenuous or asinine.

I can read those comments as a positive from Spurrier to bama. He's also making a point about expectations. They are always too high even from a team who just loads their roster with top talent year after year.
The Cult of the Bama fan just missed this. He's not obsessed at all imo. Once again Spurrier is correct.

Spurrier used to be top dog of CFB in the 90's and people handle not being top dog anymore differently. I love Spurrier but this constant Bama bashing comes off like he's envious. Spurrier was on top of the CFB at Florida and instead of trying that again at another top CFB program. He's happy having a built in excuse(SC overacheiving) to why he's not playing for National Titles yearly. If he was at a top program, he'd chance losing that mystique he built at Florida. If he failed to have the same success Florida had playing for National titltes. At SC, Spurrier doesn't have that problem. Plus, the SEC is much more prepared for his mismatch passing attack these days. This isn't the run 1st SEC Spurrier dominated years ago and he knows this. It's why I think he's happy staying at a program where 10 wins is good enough and is even seen as a success.

CSS doesn't care about accolades, etc…His ego is so large he isn't worried about what reporters, fans, etc…think. He is simply doing what he does. It might be for a recruiting edge or for a potential title game match up, but it has a purpose. It ain't to convince people he is being over looked.

Just last year we went in to South Carolina and got a 5* linebacker from Spurrier's backyard
No offer from SC.
To OP:
Bama is the gold standard in college football right now. They get brought up in a lot of conversations about college football. Coaches mention Bama all the time, not just Spurrier.

its also a recruiting tool to suggest to recruits that there is more to college than what Nick Saban may be selling. Pretty good marketing strategy and I think SOS likes fricking with the heads of certain

What about Spurrier's time at Florida when he had everything he could need as far as recruiting resources. How many NCG's did he have? One?

People forget that UF didn't win an SEC until Spurrier was HC and that the bowl system in place during most of the 90s didn't benefit conference champs like the BCS did. eta- And regardless of national titles, Spurrier won 6 or 7 conference champs in his 12 years at UF. Saban has won 2 in 8 years at Bama and never won consecutive conference titles. People fawn over his titles when in reality had Okie State beaten Iowa State then the SEC's streak would have ended 1/12 not 1/14

PS- He had that feeling of failure at Washington and doesn't want it again...I don't blame him.

When you are striving to be the best, you compare yourself to those who are the best.
You're currently a fan of the team that is the best. Spurrier's comments reinforce that, not belittle it.
I take his comments as a compliment. It means his goal is to get USC to the level of Bama.

Don't you think Saban knows the SEC Championship isn't everything?

Gus Malzahn begs to differ.
As does Charlie Weatherbie (ULM 2007) and probably several others.
