I do have issues with a few Mizzou posters on the Rant who got all bent out of shape on a women's basketball thread because they thought it was about the men's basketball team - who was not even playing that day - and have been trolling me ever since.
Own the fact that this got started by a few Mizzou posters speaking out of their arse one day and we have grounds to build on.

I don't think, I know. I was running that game thread. Game was on TV and place looked empty and I made a comment on it. Suddenly several Mizzou posters were on it getting all wound up thinking it was about the men when it was clearly stated WBB in the thread title.

Like I say you can use whatever viewpoint you want and you offer arguments to support it. I don't agree with them, flat out, but that's my view.
Mizzou is a member of the MAC in wrestling. Any titles, trophies, top rankings, etc, it has done and will do from 2012 onward are things that its new conference mates - the Toledos, Central Michigans, Bowling Greens - can and probably are ecstatic about.
When you go to the MAC website and click on the wrestling section, they prominently display Mizzou wrestlers competing. When you go to an official SEC sports website, you see no such thing and, until the SEC adds wrestling if ever and until Mizzou wrestling joins, you never will.
Mizzou wrestling is, therefore, distinctly not part of the SEC "family." If it were club sport or an independent floating in free space due to lack of the SEC having an official sport for it, I'd take your view. But that's not the case. Mizzou wrestling is part of a Division One conference, one that fields D1 football, D1 basketball, D1 everything. One that competes directly with the SEC in that regard. Not very successfully, but it competes.
For that reason I just see zero reason - zero logic - in "including" things Mizzou did in wrestling as part of the "SEC family" accomplishments, but refraining from considering anything the wrestling program did before 2012. Either way, be it Big 12 or MAC, you are taking accomplishments from a program in a rival conference and incorporating them into the SEC.
What your approach does do, which feeds into the black helicopter view of the kilos of the world, is take away more of Mizzou's title hardware for purposes of your assessment of them. It feeds quite nicely into what kilo is saying, whether that was your intention or not, you should note that it gives off that optic for those whose starting assumption is that you bring certain biases to the table.
I don't necessarily think its a question of bias. I think you genuninely want Mizzou wrestling, a successful sport on the national level, to be among the SEC's pride points. It helps the SEC and you are all for that. But my bottom line is it ignores, indeed disrespects, the MAC as a legit D1 conference to do so. Being in the MAC is not a club sport. It's a legit D1 wrestling conference.
Same goes with Alabama and Tennessee rowing. They are Big 12 rowing teams. The Big 12 is a major conference. The Big 12 is a major economic and athletic competitor to the SEC. Any revenue generated by their rowing conference's endeavors is money in the pocket of the Big 12, and individually in the pockets of Bama and Tenn, but not to the SEC as a conference. It does nothing for the SEC. It enhances the Big 12 in one particular sport while the SEC continues to be a non-player. I just wouldn't factor that into a list of "SEC accomplishments." I get the argument that they are an SEC member school, its just not an argument I would make. The kids on those Bama and Tenn rowing teams sure won't feel like they are part of the SEC family when competing at the Big 12 championships I'm guessing.

In your revisionist world maybe but that reality was it was a WBB thread early in the SEC. I remember it because I had been doing lesser SEC sports threads for some time and that was the first one with such issues. TAMU came in same time you did and I never had problems with one of the threads for their lesser sports. Their fans were both active and knowledgeable pretty much from the start.
It was further fueled when some Mizzou poster put up a thread about other SEC folks supporting Mizzou when they played in Rupp during the NCAA. I actually attended those games but the Mizzou folks were the least represented school at the event. I came back and posted about it and again all the Mizzou trolls got all worked up about it.
I know this is not a lie as I was actually at the event and remember it quite well. revise all you want, but you are full of crap.
