But they could really fall apart down the last half of the season with 4 of the 5 SEC series being against top half SEC teams right now in LSU, UGA, Ole Miss and Alabama.
Their starters have gotten rocked big time by Vandy this past weekend and they still haven't settled on a 3rd weekend starter as Smyly got benched and a guy who hadn't started a game in Justin Wells was scheduled to pitch today.
Keuchel (their FRIDAY night starter) has a 4.53 ERA and opponents are batting .306 against him. Forrest, their Saturday starter, has a 5.02 ERA and opponents are batting .271 against him.
They also only hit .284 as a team right now. All this doesn't add up to a strong finish against the conferences better teams IMO. Weak starting pitching, good relief pitching though...but weak bats.

disagree arky is a solid team. they are a scrappy bunch that seems to strive late in the game if the score is manageable. i see a arky, lsu,uga challenge for the sec regular season championship. i'm probably wrong but thats my thought on the race.

We will be fighting Ark. until the SEC tourney, it is going to be tough to pass them up...

It is baseball and basically comes down to pitching. A lot of games remain-- and we were not swept that would have required one more victory which did not happen

I have to confess, I am very concerned after this weekend. We were smoked by Vandy.
Then with today's game cancelled, we'll only have 29 vs 30 SEC conference games.
I think this is a very bad sign for our Hogs.

Not a bit concerned, picked pre-season by SEC coaches to be the 6th best team in the league (4th in the West) - they're in good position to be in control of their own destiny.
#2 in pitching in the conference, weak hitting for average, decent power, timely hitting and good defense has made them a solid team. This weekend they were sloppy (4 E's on both nights) and just had a bad weekend. Glad to get that one out of the way.
Kuechel is having a solid year - 4 decent to good SEC starts, 1 bad start.
UF – 1 run – 7 inn
AU – 2 run, 8 inn
MSU – 3 run, 5 inn
USC 3 run, 6.1 inn
Vandy 7 run, 3.1 inn
Not a power pitcher, pitched a couple of years in Cape Cod - 1 good\1 not.
TJ Forrest has been decent until the last two weekends. You completely missed Bolsinger, who was slated to be the #2 starter pre-season until he contracted mono. He's on the mend and getting stronger (won 2 games weekend before last at Columbia). Third weekend starter - an issue right now. DVH will work it out, and he has 3 - 5 guys to work with.
@ Georgia next weekend after they swept Kentucky.
tbird - you're consistent I'll say that for ya

a 2 game sweep is still a sweep.

If you do not win a game in a series (2+ games) you were swept. Doesn't matter if it's 2, 3 or 4 games. Or 3 games in which 1 gets canceled.
If you lost 2 and one game ended tied...then that is not a sweep, but that isn't the case.

you were swept end of discussion.. but that being said i think the fate of arkansas' team will got with how they play at georgia.. if they win the series and beat up on the dawgs i think they have a shot at maybe winning it all.. if they play respectable, even if they lose 2, than they have a good shot at omaha.. but if they get smoked i have a hard time seeing them get very far after that

100% serious but 1 (very delusional, huge homer) Ark fan I talk to on another board said the exact same thing he said.
That it wasn't a sweep because 3 games were scheduled and they only played 2. Damage Control 100%.

so you dropped two to Illinois? LSU has a three game series coming to Fayette ville hopefully this will decide the west.

They are a good team. They proved that by beating Arizona State twice. Stats dont look good but the record does.
