Three roper money shot? That sounds very familiar..... Oh yeah the 3 A&M core students that killed and then jacked off on a dog.

In all seriousness Sumlin should be fine even at 7-5 that won't happen. His criticims was fielding teams with soft Ds and no running game. Both issues seem to be addressed.

Serious answer: Do you expect anyone here to know?

My opinion ... yes. But I'm a huge Sumlin supporter, so I'm probably not the most objective source.

Think he was looking for opinions, and is pretty sure none of you really know.

These two are mutually exclusive.

Well, it was a decent thread until you showed up.

Yes, he would likely survive 4.

The quality of our defense and running game would have to change dramatically for us to finish 7-5 so your statement really makes no sense

Yes. Especially if they are close games. I felt like 8-4 was the gray area, with 7-5 being an almost guaranteed firing. So well see.

I wonder how many black HCs there are at P5 teams? It's theoretically possible -- not likely, but certainly plausible -- that Strong, Sumlin, Franklin and Mason could all be gone after this season.

(Just so we're clear, Strong is the only one that is likely to be gone. I don't think PSU will fire Franklin just yet, we Vandy fans are willing to accept moral victories for longer than most fanbases and we're, like, two moral victories away from being 4-1, and the TAMU fans can tell you about Sumlin. Nevertheless, it's not completely implausible.)

I believe it would be very foolish to fire him with just 3 losses

Washington Post article on Black HCs. It isn't a great deal.

That's even worse than my scenario, because they include all FBS teams, not just P5 ones. It could be a slaughterhouse after this season. Strong is gone, Mason isn't exactly comfortable -- great defenses but he needs to put together complete teams -- and Sumlin could very well lose more than the 3 being bandied about here because of how brutal their schedule is with all the SEC-W teams and the current top SEC-E team. (Luckily, they handled their tough OOC at the start of the season.)

I don't get the joke. Are black people/were slaves traditionally associated with abattoirs?

No, but they were slaughtered en masse by proxy during passage. I don't know I was just saying people are overly sensitive about the whole issue with black coaches.
