UGA has never won a national championship despite all of their competitive advantages in the west.

discuss.

edit: just so you all know I don't count non BCS era championships that were voted on by local newspapers.

no I don't count 1957 either.

sue me.

Georgia might be the most underachieving college football program in history.

You mean an Auburn fan wants to forget about basically the entire history of college football? I wonder why?

So I just looked at Saban's record at LSU against UGA....2-1

So that makes Saban 4-2 against Richt all time

I'm not trying to make excuses, but Houston Nutt struggled to beat any team we didn't play yearly. Take a look at his record against the SEC-E at Arkansas:

Florida 0-3
Georgia 0-5
Kentucky 2-3
South Carolina 7-3
Tennessee 2-5
Vanderbilt 1-1

We've always played South Carolina yearly and we played Tennessee yearly until 2002, so he caught the Vols during their best years.

As for Georgia, we're tied with them in games where Nutt wasn't our head coach.

Richt is 4-4 against LSU and 3-2 against Les Miles including 1-1 in the SEC Championship
so you're cherry picking a couple of things to makes richt's poor record against ranked opponents look better. Congrats.

I'm not reading the entire thread.

What is this poor record against ranked opponents you are referencing?

Yeah, throughout Richt's career I would imagine we are pretty good against ranked teams. Regardless, we've 3 out of the last 4 and 4 of the last 6 with one loss being to the eventual national champs IIRC

Yeah.
Since 2001, I would imagine that it would be pretty good.

Obviously, 2001, 2006 and 2009 we had freshman QBs and losses to mediocre teams leave them hovering around the top 25 because they beat us. Those were god awful years against ranked opponents, I'm sure. But if you look at the big picture, I'm sure Richt looks fine. Probably better than everyone but LSU since 2001.

Yep.

They don't call them MNC for nothing.
Last I checked, UGA has the same amount of NCAA Football Championships as LSU

Which has been all of 2 games...and we went a combined 14-12 in those 2 years.

i'm merely responding to your boy Ermahgerd. he/she brought lsu into the discussion.

you don't think if we could take away the numbers from 09 and 10 they'd look markedly better?
if you take away the bad seasons from both coaches, miles is still significantly ahead. and if you go back to '05 for both coaches, the gap opens even wider in miles' favor.

the fact that richt has a decent record against the west is incredibly misleading. that's what i'm pointing out.
