If you are worth a shite as an employee your boss will make a lot of money off you. That's democracy. That's a free market economy. That's life. Why do you want to hold athletes in college to a different standard. Don't hate the crime. Hate the person that committed the crime. Another no brainier that doesn't seem to apply to athletes.

How do you identify a complete idiot?

It's not always this easy but if someone says "rules are rules" you've found one.

Free market? Gurley should take that up with the NFL for not allowing players to enter draft out of high school. Free market? The vast majority of these players could not get into these schools without relaxed standards for athletes. Gurley certainly does not appear to care about his teammates and they can change the rules all they want to, players and schools will just find bigger and better ways to break them.

Posting equivalence of ignorant.

For starters the schools and NCAA ( NCAA really makes zero off football ) don't make anything off the backs of these athletes. They make money off a program and game they INVESTED IN 100-120 years ago, by building stadiums, paying for athletes way to college, spending money that IN THOSE DAYS were probably placing colleges in the black, or in the hole. The college are now reaping the benefits of what the BUILT UP or SOWED.

I could give a damn if Gurly oe JFF ever played a down of football, move over and let someone have your scholarship if it isn't good enough for you. People love their schools, as evidence by me watching Bama golf or Bama Softball.

As for the kids signing autographs and making money, ARE YOU THAT NAIVE? REALLY?

The first thing a booster will tell a recruit is, I will pay you 100k for your " Wink Wink " signature if you come to Bama, then the Auburn banker will offer 125 k for the recruits signatures, if he will only sign with Auburn.

Anyone that can't see this us stupid as the day is long.

If you don't want ti play for the scholarship, get your azz on down the road.

Ignorance is bliss.

Maybe the athletic scholarship should just disappear and the players should just walk on and if a coach or a booster wants to pay some kid to walk on and play for whomever, then so be it, and then the player should report the pay or gifts as income and if they don't then it's between them and the IRS.

The problem with you trolling so much is that I never know if you are really looking for some inciteful debate or if you want to laugh.

No that's not the NCAA's stance.

The NCAA's stance is that if the student wants to be involved in the athletics of its member schools the student has to follow the guidelines and rules that the NCAA implements.

The NCAA isn't saying an athlete can't sell his signed jerseys, the NCAA is saying that if they do, they will not be allowed to play in NCAA organized events.

Serious question: Why do you think I'm trolling in the OP? It seems pretty genuine to me.

Am I not allowed to feel sympathetic for Gurley in this situation?

Also...when is the last time I trolled? Since I've been back from banland, I've done nothing but try to elevate my online image with legitimate threads.

Take the tinfoil off yo head, sucka.

The fact that smaller schools can't pay is not an issue, nor should be.

But it's the smaller schools that the NCAA is catering to. If the Big 5 had any since, they would have split off from the NCAA to form their own division ages ago.

They have opportunity funds for emergency, one meal a day and a scholarship check that last them for over a month. They don't have plenty of money.

No, actually they are right. I know Gurley is your guy and all but the very simple fact of the matter is he broke the rules and did so knowingly.

He shouldn't have done that, and now he's paying the price. It's that simple.

And you arw a dumb arse uf you don't understand the cause effect of your simpleminded thesis

What these schools make in basketball and football pays for all the sports

Going by your suggestion Bama, Oklahoma USC, etc. etc. Would dominate the talent.

Stop suggesting rule changes because someone broke the rules.

I did come on a little strong but those that don't look at tbe true facts get under my skin, a free 250-to 500 k education with amenities. COME IN MAN.

These guys have families sliping them money to buy clothes, knowing they are going pro in a year, I ain't buying that woe is me B.S.
