no. But trust me. They had sports talk radio.
And, they had ESPN, which was set up to broadcast the game. Jackie Sherrill appeared on every show that wanted him that weekend, with the stadium and blue skies in the background. He was pissed. Since there was no conference championship game to interfere, the game was rescheduled for December, and Bama caught another break when A&M's starting QB, Bucky Richardson, went down with a knee injury the week before in the Texas game. Lucky Gumps.

Where are the millions going who are being told to evacuate? It seems like Gainesville might be a good destination for them, no?

I would be heading to NW Fla.....or even out of the State. From Central Florida down, each Coast will be feeling the impact.

I guess we could just whine to the SEC about concerns about flying because our back up QB isn't very good like the Gumps did with A&M and Hurricane Gilbert in 1988.

What a fool. The governor wants people to evacuate and LSU fans are concerned about our team's safety and morons like you complain.

Texas EMA couldnt guarantee our safety. WE made the call not to go. We didnt even consult with the SEC until after it was over. We had our conversations with A&M officials and the EMA. We informed the SEC later of our decision and A&M was kind enough to work out an arrangement or we would have forfeited.

Are Florida officials guaranteeing your safety? if not then you do what you have to do and quit bitching. Dam, LSU needs to take some initiative sometimes and quit playing the victim. Yall do nothing but complain like 4 year olds when you dont get your way.

nice spin -- and "melt" as you Gumps say. No one can nor has ever "guaranteed" anyone's safety.

Bill Curry had no confidence in his back up QB and begged, whine and pleaded to get the game postponed all due to a Hurricane that went 200-300 miles south of College Station.

Gainesville is not in an evacuation zone. It is mostly coastal areas or along rivers.

I'm not saying Gainesville is being evacuated. I'm pointing out that perhaps if people are evacuating to Gainesville then perhaps anyone who has a room booked for the game should let that room go so evacuees from other parts of Florida can have those rooms.

A lot of us probably weren't alive then. Depending on when the game was supposed to be, I may not have been a year old yet.

I absolutely love the narrative that LSU fans are the only ones who bitch on this site.

There is, literally, nothing more ironic.

LSU made us play in 2005 when all of the hotel rooms canceled on the fans for evacuees. The game was still played in Baton Rouge even though it shouldn't have. Payback is a bitch. You guys can deal.

I'm guessing they didn't want to have to reschedule a third game that season.

Not true. Bill Curry's reason for refusing to go was that they couldn't guarantee him that weather would be suitable for flying after the game (in other words, Bama might have been delayed on the ground if the worst case scenario occurred). It was a pretext, pure and simple. Curry was a chickenshit.

It was hilarious to hear all the pissed off Bama fans who had arrived in College Station in their RVs on Thursday, wandering around town in beautiful weather bitching about Curry. They knew what was behind the decision.

Why was this? Katrina and Rita were weeks earlier. Why shouldn't the game have been played in Baton Rouge?

Let's see... a mandatory curfew due to the New Orleans evacuees in your city.... ummmm, need I say more? and like I said previously, you all were not prepared for a storm like this, while Florida has been. There's a huge difference there.

What? Katrina hit August 29, Rita hit September 24. The Florida/LSU game was October 15. So this is "payback"? LSU rescheduled 2 games that season, including playing a home game in Arizona. Please stop talking out of your arse

The eastern coast of Florida hasn't seen a hurricane in years. Stop comparing the entire state to Miami
