Based on the 247Sports Composite score:

LSU
2000: #21
2001: #2
2002: #21
2003: #3
2004: #3

Alabama
2007: #13
2008: #3
2009: #2
2010: #5
2011: #1
2012: #1
2013: #1
2014: #1
2015: #1
2016: #1

Since 2000, only one other school managed back-to-back #1 recruiting classes and that was USC (2005 & 2006).

During that time, too, Florida has had a #1 composite class a total of three times (2003, 2007, and 2010).

In this era of college football parity, Saban's run at Alabama is truly unparalleled and may never again be seen.

Oh....it also shows it's easier to recruit at Alabama then it is at LSU.

Bama paying players like no other. I commend them, because it's a damn fine run. AU couldn't pull off something this good and we pretty much let the whole world know we paid Cam.

The trick is to hide it. Auburn hasn't been quite the same on the recruiting trail since Chizik, Trooper, and Luper got canned.

Doesn't have to pay players.

Some players want to play for the best, those are the players he attracts.

Come on man, we are all doing it. Bama is more attractive with all of the success, no doubt.

Not sure it says anything about recruiting at Alabama vs LSU. His first 4 classes at Alabama were in same ballpark as his classes at LSU and his name was much more well known. I remember his arrival at LSU and his initial press conference where he said it would be easy to recruit compared to Mich State...all he would have to do is build a wall around LA.

I thought how few New Orleans and N. LA players usually signed with LSU in those days and decided he was an arrogant Yankee (West Virginia was Yankee territory you know). He was right, I was wrong ... one of the few times in my life.

We had to lay low for several years, but I think this year we started getting our groove back.

Average rank of first 4 classes at LSU: 11.75
Average rank of first 4 classes at UA: 5.75

As Georgia and Mark Richt has shown us, there can be a big difference between a Top 5 class and a Top 10 class.

Saban was a national championship-winning college coach with a very successful track record in the SEC when he got to Alabama.

He was a good NFL coordinator and decent college coach with no coaching experience in the SEC when he got to LSU.

Definitely the same.

He's 11-3 all-time vs. Ole Miss. Congrats on your victories. In truth I should be thanking Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss as those losses in '14 and '15 galvanized our team and catapulted us to two SEC titles and a national title.

I don't think those championships happen without those defeats.

Obviously those wins over Alabama the last two years had the exact opposite effect on your team.

It appears that LSU is all up in your head.

Are you concerned that LSU has the talent to defeat Bama or maybe have you just realized that in fact they actually do?

LSU has had the talent to defeat Alabama every year since Saban returned to the SEC. The problem has always been your coach.

He wouldn't have done what he is doing at Alabama even if he had been in the SEC his entire career upon being hired by LSU.
