You're right he is a level above.

Really? As much as I don't like Bama, Saban's success and his trophy case say otherwise.

Alabama and kState's resources (talent, facilities, recruiting, money) aren't even in the same stratosphere. Winning at kState is damn near impossible

See: 1998.

They were two overtimes away from playing Tennessee in the national title game.

I also remember K-State completely humbling Oklahoma in the Big XII title game, with Ell Roberson and Darren Sproles, in 2003. They are always a well coached team.

Yes, but of all the teams playing in big time football conferences, K-State was probably the worst.

I think that should go to Bill Snyder of KSU noone and I mean noone has done more with less in the last 20 years of college football. Go look up the recruiting rankings and compare to the top teams now.

You do know recruiting is part of the HC's job? So Snyder may be a good coach, but you have to take all aspects of their job to compare. Snyder doesnt have 3 titles either. This is not a very good arguement.

Saban could recruit 5 star players to Kansas State an could do better there than Snyder is doing. This thread is hilarious.

look at Snyders record at KState compared to their all time record without him. I bet you won't find any coach who has ever had a more significant impact.

This, too. Completely outclassed a team that was labeled as "unbeatable" all season long.

He would recruit as well as you can recruit there, but he would not pull in top rated classes year after year.

FWIW I think it's very close and you can make a good argument for either.

I think this thread should of been, best coaches with the least amount of talent. I think some coaches can coach up a team better than what Saban could. But, with the recruiting, coaching, and executing.....Saban is the best ( )

If Nick Saban were at K State, would K State be better than Alabama?

Just curious, what makes you think that Saban would be able to get 5 star recruits to Kansas State if he were there?

I actually think that since Snyder is doing what he is doing without the services of multiple 5 star recruits makes it even more remarkable.

None of you would choose Bill Snyder as your teams coach over Nich Saban, even if they were the same age.

Because he's the best recruiter in the country maybe, and has won three nc's?

You can say that about every ex-coach in sports. You can say that Bama wouldn't be where Bama is with Nick Saban if it wasn't for Bear Bryant's success.

But, Saban is still the best coach in college football. Recruiting is part of coaching.

U gumps crack me up. Saban is in the best possibile place to land who ever he wants. The gump alumni will spare no expense to get who he wants and make sure nothing will spill to the NCAA nazis. He is a smart caculating little guy. He knew LSU would be a great recruiting base, and he knew he could get what ever he wanted from the gumps. Saban would never go to KSU or any place like it where he didn't think he could pull off what he is now. That is why he left MSU he knew he could not win a title there.

Not a fair argument. I think that you would agree that Saban has just a few more resources at his disposal in Tuscaloosa, than he would in Manhattan, KS.

I have no doubt that Saban is one of the best recruiters in the country, but he is able to do what he does best because of the tradition that Bama has and what the SEC has to offer. Manhattan may as well be on another planet when it comes to recruiting.

Different animal, and this will be proven wrong if K-State beats Alabama, but it takes something completely different to go after the best talent in the nation and be able to sell yourself. Being a head coach in the SEC is far more about recruiting, and managing egos than anywhere else. Snyder might be the best Xs and Os guy, as well as gameday coach in the country, but if he had to walk in to mama's living rooms in Dixie and sell his program, he wouldn't have the championships Saban has.
