I actually agree with this part. Call the proposal what it is which is the closing of a loophole in the current rules that allows chickenshits the ability to gain an advantage by not allowing defenses the time to put itself in position.
So offensive players can get into position, but D players are so stupid they can't find where they are supposed to stand? That sounds like a coaching problem.

considering how poorly they performed against A&M
From mid way through the 2nd quarter A&M never touched the ball with the chance to take a lead.
Funny how everyone leave out the fact Bama held Ole Miss to 205 yards and ZERO points, and mighty HUNH stopping defense LSU was scorched for 525 yards and 27 points against them

I'm sure it does but in reality, defensive players rely on recognition of offensive formations in order to determine where to line up and what their respective assignments are. If the offense runs to the line and snaps the ball quick enough, the defense doesn't have the necessary time to make its reads.

Neither Saban or Bielema is a member of the Football Rules Committee that proposed the rule change
Yet Saban gets invited to the committee meeting and is given the opportunity to state HIS opinion. This has absolutely nothing to do with the safety of his players and we all know that. If a player is injured and can't get off of the field, use a time out. If he isn't willing to use a time out, the game is more important than his player. If the player is injured, that team should get the time-out back.
I remember an interview with Bobby Bowden many years ago when he was talking about a great coach (can't remember who) being able to beat you with his players or your players. Saban isn't that type of coach. He has to bend the rules and have substantially better talent to win consistently. He's having problems with the HUNH so he wants to eliminate it. He's a coward...plain and simple.

Again, your argument holds no water. You are implying that the O does not have to read the D. You are dead wrong. This is a game where the team that has the ball is called the offense. The offense has every right to control the pace of play. The D has one right......stop the O.

LSU players have the ability to adapt to the situation on the fly, mainly because of a coaching philosophy that is geared towards that.

In 2008, Saban took a bunch of average upperclassmen and a few talented Freshmen and came within 1 quarter of beating UF in the SECCG and playing for the NC. He has his moments.

No I'm not. The offense does have to read the defense but a lot of that is done by the QB after the ball is snapped. Like Nick Marshall reading the defensive end on option plays for instance.

You're right on both accounts. I just think it's a cheap way to go about creating an advantage on offense.

I think that's a matter of perspective.
