The SEC convinced the NCAA to ignore their own rules that year for auburn. I mean there is no question about it.

It used to be considered a good quality in a player to have a mean streak while trying to inflict pain on the opposing players. Now it's considered "dirty". Metrosexuals unite!

Auburn has always been known to have questionable character guys on their team, ie Fairley, Cam, etc.

I was referring to the SEC just ignoring their own rules when it came to Newton.

“If at any time before or after matriculation in a member institution a student-athlete or any member of his/her family receives or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly, any aid or assistance beyond or in addition to that permitted by the Bylaws of this Conference (except such aid or assistance as such student-athlete may receive from those persons on whom the student is naturally or legally dependent for support), such student- athlete shall be ineligible for competition in any intercollegiate sport within the Conference for the remainder of his/her college career.”

I agree, as a Bammer, that that call when looked at in a vacuum was BS. I think when you look at Fairley's play in the UGA game though, the refs wanted to send a message to him that they weren't going to allow him to play like he did in the UGA game. Like I said earlier, I don't really vilify Fairley for his play in the UGA game, I blame the refs for allowing it to devolve the way it did. The refs in the Iron Bowl, most likely instructed by the league, weren't going to allow that to happen.

And guess what? It worked! Fairley played a clean game after that, and even made the play that probably gave AU the win when he forced the fumble and recovered it late in the game.

Nobody has to try to defend anything that happened 3+ years ago. That horse has been beaten for long enough.

Your tears are delicious tho. Keep up the temper-tantrum.
