If A&M can make you one dimensional playing catch-up, you're in serious trouble.

Agreed. Good thing their D can't stop any dimension though.

How much do the new rules that protect offensive players affect the yards given up?

I'd say more than most people think. I can't stand them. It's even more apparent in the NFL. Broken offensive "records" with the new rules should have a disclaimer at the bottom.

I really think it would have been better just to go after Manziel on every play. He might escape, but if they're scoring on every drive anyway, I don't see much difference.

except for that part where they didnt score on every drive and we scored 35 unanswered points, which is why we wont the game. if you rush him every play you give him a chance to break you down on the ground, which means they score every drive and the drives take longer, so your D gets even more tired. I think saban hit upon the only thing thats going to work against A&M this year, which is to outscore them.

Disagree. They got as much pass rush as Saban wanted.

Exactly. Don't see how people aren't getting this.

I thought Bama had the perfect rush scheme on Manziel. They got just close enough with stunts to make him antsy but didn't allow him to escape very often. Very similar to what Chavis did last year. Mush rush.

Considering they played man-to-man in coverage their rushing scheme was very effective.

I think this is probably true.

As for the rest of your post, I don't know. Maybe.

I'd like to call all those bullshite, hail mary's that Manziels throws up luck, but he makes them time after time. It really all hinges on two players - Manziel, and Evans. Without Evans, I think our defense slows them down a lot more. But, we just had no answer for both those guys at the same time. It seemed like Belue was doing a better job when he switched. That's when we outscored them 35-0. But, then he went out with the injury.

Alabama got NO PUSH the entire game

not true. we got more push that i was expecting against their line. true freshman ashawn robinson got a sack bullrushing right up the middle, and pagan had him too, but he slipped out. if this were met in there he would have been sacked about 5 times

I think LSU might match up a little better against A&M, although, admittedly, I don't know much about their CB's this year.

Best to ever play. just ask them.

How can anyone even make that argument? That little punk QB passed at will, and your defense gave up 42 points.

When you can't cover man-to-man, then you had better get in the QB's face, or go to zone. The only thing that bailed out Bama on Saturday was that ATM's defense was equally horrid.

This is generally true, and may even be true with Manziel, but do you want to flush that guy out of the pocket? Saban didn't want to do that. In hindsight, it MAY have worked better than making him sit back there and pass to the 6'5" WR that our CB's couldn't out jump.
