At the end of the day Yancy is a buffoon but has always been a useful idiot for the OM admin. they are doing their level best to not only try to hold some sort of class together this year but also sell as many season tickets as possible.
The only way this is possible is to try to downplay any sanctions and also foster an "us against the world" mentality, that is all this is and quite a few are buying in.

Kiffin's not tied up in the Leo Lewis mess. He's going to try to distance himself from that one as much as possible. If you read the response, he's about the only OM party named that appears to have come close to telling the truth. He admits most of the allegations and even provided testimony that contradicted some of the denials made by other OM people. He's going to do everything he can to try and avoid a show cause.
Barney, on the other hand, is a dead man and he knows it. He isn't going to go after Lewis either. He's going to throw it all on Hugh and OM boosters.
For very different reasons, neither of these guys are going to do one single thing to help OM with their case.

I wonder if this is what Steve Robertson was hinting about. On his podcast yesterday he said there were some new things about to come out concerning the Ole Miss hearings and it was not going to be good for Ole Miss.
He said the news will likely be broken in a few days.

Merkel has no legal standing to attend the COI and will not be allowed in the building unless OM chooses to retain him, which would be a very poor decision at this point.
