New NFL rule bans assistant coaches from the field at all times. Should NCAA?

I say yes. We all remember this embarrassing "boom" moment where an assistant coach forgot he was just an assistant and gave Alabama 30 yards and 3 points in a close game.

So the head coach is the only one on the field? Or do you mean ON the field?

Stupid rule. All because the spineless cheatingvrefs didn't nail Porters arse when he went in the field against Cincy.

BFL is a joke run by Goodell. He does blanket shut like this to take the pressure off of his office when a guy like Porter does stupid shite. There are several reasons for assistants to be on the field during timeouts, stoppage in play, etc.

Yep. And it makes sense. If anyone needs to be on the field talking to refs in any capacity, it needs to be the HC.

Might as well ban all coaches from the field.

No, the HC should be able to go on the field under the right circumstances IMO. Assistants don't need to be involved with the refs. Focus on the players and what they're going to do next. Let the HC deal with the big picture things.

There is a very big difference between Head Coach Saban screaming at a ref and assistant coach Muschamp out on the field cussing out refs.

What was so comical to me about the whole situation is that the late hit that had Muschamp so pissed was the textbook definition of a late hit on a QB.

LINK

It's a full wrap around leg tackle well out of bounds that throws Coker into the bleachers.

That was his signature moment at Auburn in stint #2. That record salary was money well spent.

Have you ever coached before? I'm guessing no as it is nearly impossible to actively coach and not get onto the field a bit pre snap/while the team is in the huddle. When you're trying to yell at a kid 50 yards away while the band plays/crowd is loud, you're not worried about your feet. Every coach ends up on the field throughout a game.

Muschamp should have been ejected altogether for his actions. I wish the other AU coaches would have just let him go after the ref and not have pulled him back. I'd like to see how far his temper could really take him.

agreed, in-helmet communication will help with that

It will help, but DBs and WRs won't have them in their helmets. Their coaches will still have to get their attention/instruct them when they see something.

Now, if all players had in-helmet communication that would be awesome. The game could be sped up tremendously. The line would never have to huddle and the skill players could pretty much stay in the same position for the most part. Might get rid of 4 hour games. I'm all for it.
