The thing is that in a state as small population wise as Mississippi, having 2 major universities kills you. If MSU and OM merged to one 35-40k student school and did away with open racism and cowbells, they'd wreck shop. That school would be on the same level as LSU football wise.

Why isn't anyone talking about Butch Davis? Seems like he would be a good fit and he is a great recruiter.

Agree if they were merged we would be alot better.

What does the cowbells have to do with performance of a team? If anything they help them by increasing the noise level.

I talked to a very very wealthy ole miss booster yesterday. He has a suite and flies a private plane to every game. He said that if you get on the message boards to read about ole miss's coaching search, you will probably not see the future coach being mentioned at all.

Why not? He completely rebuilt Miami and handed Larry Coker a Natl Championship team, he brought plenty of talent into North Carolina, but a few of them turned out to be turds who took under the table benefits.

Most of the other candidates mentioned are going to bring in a spread offense which means they are just going to split those Mississippi recruits with MSU.

It seems like they could do a lot worse...

He also hired and kept on staff for years John Blake. It was also a student he employed as a nanny that was the one writing papers for UNC players. Davis' Nanny

Davis is lucky he didn't get personal penalties in all that UNC mess.

I like him as a coach and I really like him as a recruiter, but I think he'll spend more than just this year off from coaching. Could be wrong though. If NCAA clears him if/when Ole Miss requests info about his standing with them, then he would be a good hire.

Come on man. I've seen the rebel flags. What the hell is Colonel Reb, and why are folks so mad he's gone? The south will rise again? They need to end that shite pronto. It's so obvious. And cowbells are JV. If University of Mississippi (not Ole Miss) was reorganized in Jackson, for example, with an enrollment of 40k, and kept the Bulldog name and color scheme, after a merger, it would be so much better for MS nationally. We're not that far removed from some seriously fricked up shite, and that people still fight to keep the battle flag over the capitol makes y'all look so much worse.

1. Merge the schools. 2. Lose the flag. 3. Lose the cowbells. 4. Profit.

Those aren't official and are highly frowned upon. The south has a shitty history on this stuff, but YOUR STATE FLAG is the original article. Y'all are the Rebels for Christ's sake, with the original color scheme. The OM fanbase could try to be supportive when their administration tries to bring them past 1964, but every measure that would help the healing process has been fought tooth and nail. Hell, last year the damn Klan showed up. It would probably be in OM's best interest to modernize. A little.

They did. And you're far too dense to figure out exactly WHY they did.

1. Merge schools 2. Oxford dies 3. Starkville dies 4. State economy tanks even more 5. Opposite of profit

Protesting administrative attempts at modernity. I was glad those scum were deservedly repudiated, but when the damn KKK is on the same side of a sizable percentage of the fanbase on a touchy issue it might be time to reevaluate a little.
