This. The product on tv has gotten so good with the HD tv's and the ability to watch (or flip among) virtually every single game being played has made the stadium experience less desirable than in times past. Now, there is still nothing to beat tailgating on campus on a Saturday in the fall and watching your team take the field as the band plays the fight song, and I make sure to do that a couple of times a year with my family. But most Saturdays, with a busy schedule of kids' activities and other things, staying home and watching with a full fridge and good friends is the best option.

It just never struck me as a great matchup. Auburn-Louisville isn't exactly a supergame either, but at least it seems fresh and Auburn can largely fill out the Dome without a lot of help. Not the case here, given the distances.
I'm very amped about the game. Any Bama fan that was alive for the only Wisconsin game, is probably dead. We also match up very well against their strengths. And I'd love to stomp on a big ten team, since we lost to the last one we played.

LSU fans will travel very well to Lambeau Field in 2017.
That game will be a sellout. And since it's in Wisconsin, Badger fans will be very well represented.

Texas is a long trip from Wisconsin and their fanbase was just there last year for a similar kick-off game.

Alabama fans are getting sick of it too. We are booked for Jerry World again next year, Atlanta after that, and then Orlando the following year. Would a memorable home and home be too much to ask? With a 14 team/8 game schedule SEC, we see the same campuses year after year. I would love an away game to Ohio St, Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc.

Other than Alabama and Wisconsin being ranked, I don't understand the hype of this game. Wisconsin is overrated and has no passing game. Melvin Gordon is gone and Clement doesn't bring much star power. Bama is choosing between several QBs and have zero star power on offense outside of Henry. Bama's front 7 is loaded and Wisky has a fairly new OL.
Bama's going to win this game by 10 or more.
ETA: Does this game really provide the locals with anything to watch?

Good! Maybe they'll stop with these dumb neutral site games. I'm not even a fan of Arkansas playing A&M in Arlington and that makes far more sense then Alabama/Wisconsin playing there.

I can't stand neutral site games. I don't understand why we need to make both fan bases travel to an away location to play a game.

Football attendance overall is about to head downhill. Terrible time to be expanding stadiums.

I think fans are getting tired of the neutral site trend. Part of what makes CFB great is the atmosphere, traditions, and pregame stuff you can only get by attending a college stadium.
For example, I've lurked on BG's football site and a lot of them have said they feel cheated that the game isn't at Neyland as they wanted to experience a real SEC stadium and the atmosphere that goes along with that. Some have said they would've gone to Neyland but have no interest in going to Nashville for the game. Personally, I feel the same way I'd rather go to a college stadium and take in all the traditions a school has to offer and enjoy a real college football game than just go to a pro stadium and miss out on all of that.
I think ADs are missing out on what makes CFB so unique and what makes fans want to attend CFB games. It's wayyyy different than neutral site games that really don't offer the college football experience.

It sucks, but at the end of the day, the neutral site games pay way more money than a home game does. For schools like Alabama, it's hard to get many teams to agree to travel to Tuscaloosa, so it's easier to get locked into these neutral site games and get a good P5 team on the OOC schedule. All the ADs care about is maximizing revenue, and this is what has resulted. I hate it and agree that's it's ruining part of what makes college football fun, but it is what it is. But at the end of the day, attendance doesn't really matter. Getting a TV deal is what makes the big money in these games. These games are nothing more than mini bowl games with half the stadium filled with corporate tickets.

for people with lives and financial responsibilities outside of football, justifying spending that kind of cash for travel, lodging, tickets, food, etc becomes more and more difficult. once you get past a certain age where more important things in life come into play, you just can't go to every single game anymore.
