You sound surprised by this.

Redmond suspended one year (2012), and first five games of this year and pay back around 2,500 dollars.

Yeah... How is no one talking about this...

The current football student-athlete involved in this matter has been reinstated through the NCAA Student Athlete Reinstatement Process, which requires that he repay $2,660 in impermissible benefits, forfeit a year of eligibility (during the 2012 season) and be withheld from competition for the first five games of the 2013 season.
That really sucks for him.

MSU booster gave money and other illegal benefits to a recruit/player with proof of MSU coach knowing about it but doing nothing.
"MSU is in the SEC, right?" wristslap! - NCAA

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Mississippi State's NCAA violations announced today in football marked the sixth major infractions case for the SEC in the past four years, tied with Conference USA for the most in that period. Once again, the SEC avoided a postseason ban.
The SEC's last postseason ban in any sport due to NCAA violations came with Mississippi State football in 2004. Among current Football Bowl Subdivision conferences, only the Big 12 and MAC have gone longer without one of its universities receiving a postseason ban in any sport.

First off, you double posted. You also seemed to misspell a word or two. Punctuation is also a nice touch on the end of a sentence.
NCAA didn't want to hammer State too bad over $2500 and set a unreasonable measured dollar-to-infraction standard. The math wouldn't work if applied to a *Tunsil type case in the future.
*For hypothetical example only..
