Dontae Jones passed 32 hours in summer school to become eligible and led Mississippi State to the 1996 Final Four, where Marcus Bullard was on the take and threw the game.

Speaking of blue, last year I picked a bracket of blue teams advancing (green or purple if no blue, and red if no blue, green, or purple). I ended up in the top 8% of brackets.

1985 should have ended the NCAA joke of a tournament.

Georgetown, who I hate, destroyed Nova in three prior meetings. Being in a national championship conversation, much less a game, is a travesty. Great tournament, madness indeed.

Help me out here.

Texas State or Texas Southern? Because Texas State is sitting at home and Texas Southern lost their opening round on the NIT.

I am pretty sure the Nova-Gtown games in '85 were pretty close, as John Thompson made it clear the Wildcats were a tough matchup.

When I hear Southern, I think TSU. I thought they won the SWAC, but I guess it was actually Southern in LA. My bad.

in 1986, as an 11 seed, LSU defeated the 1, 2 and 3 seed in their regional on the way to the Final Four (only team in history to beat the top 3 seeds of a regional). The next year as a 10 seed, they defeated the 2 and 3 seeds in their regional.

How about a thread where posters post bits of NCAA tournament trivia that they find interesting?

In what year did 4 SEC teams make the NCAA tournament and...

--none of them won the NC and
--only one of them made the Final Four, but
--only one non-SEC team (the national champion) beat any of them?

In the mid-2000s, Garrett Temple unintentionally rubbed his nuts all over JJ Reddicks face.

LSU:
Won as a 11 seed over 1, 2 and 3 seeds (1986)
Won as a 10 seed over 2 and 3 seeds (1987)
Won as a 4 seed over 1 seed and possibly either 2 or 3 seed (2006)

Which year was that? Don't remember that one.

LSU also made the final four as an 11 seed in 1986, tied with VCU and and George Mason as lowest seeds ever to make the final four

Seeding was introduced in the 1978 tournament.

While LSU was playing Virginia in the last contested third place game in 1981, there were discussions behind the scenes on whether or not to play the final due to the assassination attempt on President Reagan.

I'm not going to repost his name and school but come on....32 hours in summer school? What an academic powerhouse.

Is he a Nuclear Physicist today?
