Regular season conference schedule. Tennessee won at Columbia in the season opener.

The ACC did not appreciate Frank McGuire and South Carolina becoming a dominant force in the conference.

Well yea, but you said "did y'all really whoop some arse in the ACC" and the answer is yes, we went undefeated to win the conference championship

We won an ACC championship in '69 (football) '70 (regular season basketball) and '71 (basketball tournament) and left for the '71-'72 season.
Go frick yourself. Thats not a coincidence

I was living through it, not getting your point of the worst of times there Sparky. It all seemed pretty damned good to me.

Alabama and Tennessee are both at the top of the list for teams with most tournament appearances but 0 Final Fours.

NCAA Tournament history for SEC teams
Let's compare the farthest we have made it:
Georgia- Final 4
Uhhhhh and that appearance was voided due to your azzs getting caught CHEATING...so UF claim 1985 NC and 194-85 SEC titles then.
Sooooo in other words...you didn't play in a final four or a NCAA tournament that year....if your school has that trophy on display..its bullspit.

Mother of God, I've never seen our tourney drought compared to the rest of the conference.
Jesus, that is horrible considering we've had good years since 1973.

Yea, I have to agree. South Carolina was one of the best SEC teams in the nineties and I would have sworn that you guys made the NCAAT that decade. Is this right?

Racists didn't force Nolan out. He quit after winning the title and Arkansas began slipping quickly. I supported letting him go for that reason, and that reason only, but in hindsight it may have been a mistake.
It's amazing how far we've slipped in basketball, and yet, we're still one of the best in the SEC. We've sucked for 15-20 years, but our history is still better then most SEC schools.

The crazy thing is ... I remember it like yesterday. '73 was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Man we had some Hall of Famers on that team.
Frank Martin is gonna make this a tough program .... I really like what he's doing.

LSU and UGA are also the only SEC schools to send both their men and women to the Final Four the same season.

That 8 seed ran through Wichta State, Louisville, Michigan, and Wisky to face that 9 seed. I would say the #8 seed was justified as being a great team.

Crime of the century? Back in the day only the conference tournament champs made the NCAA tournament. SC was 25-3, 14-0 in ACC play for the 1969-70 season. We won the ACC regular season but lost in the title game of the ACC tournament. Missed the big dance.
Very true, also a crime that a team wins four conference titles in five years and isn't allowed to go to three tournaments because of a racist governor and state house. The one team that goes sneaks out of state to play the tourney game in East Lansing, MI. This was in 1963.

We've been to the dance ... but jinxed. Lost as #2 and #3 seeds when Fogler was here.

ACC football was maybe a step ahead of the Sunbelt back then.
So after a century of futility you string together two decent seasons and leave the ACC.Brilliant.
