Won in 2012 but was still another woefully-underachieving Stallings NCAA tournament team.

If I had to rank league historically I'd probably go

1. Kentucky

2. Florida (more championships)
3. Arkansas (more sustained)

4. LSU

5. Missouri
6. Tennessee
7. Alabama

8. Vanderbilt
9. Mississippi State (more good runs)
10. Georgia (high point, lots of bad)
11. Auburn (good run in 80's, few in 90's/2000's)
12. Texas A&M

13. South Carolina
14. Ole Miss

Not a bad list at all. Basically the top 8 teams in the SEC are the only ones worth their weight in shite. The bottom six in your list are worthless when it comes to hoops.

(Sorry State. I respect that you made a Final Four but....it's still Mississippi State basketball)

Best part about basketball, national champions are determined on the court, not by the media. (that was a jab at "national champions" in football)

Worst part about college basketball is that you can have an 8 seed and 9 seed teams that were clearly not the best team over the season face off in the title game.

Good thing you did leave the ACC to get an 'at large' bid.

We whooped some arse in the ACC.

Part of our basketball futility was being in the Metro

I understand it was just 'one bid from a league' at that time, but did South Carolina win the ACC bid more than once? Never thought of them as 'whipping' anyone.

We were undefeated to win the 1970 ACC regular season title and won the 1971 ACC tournament. Had ACC player of the year in '69 and '70.

Although there is some debate about the ultimate reason why we left I've always been told we left in 1972 because of eligibility discrepancies. It certainly wasn't to get an at large bid and some people say that McGuire didn't want to leave the ACC.

The ACC did not appreciate Frank McGuire and South Carolina becoming a dominant force in the conference.
