While I see both unlikely, this conference would be in shambles next year with Cal and Donovan leaving.

His stock is not as high as the last time he took a job and bailed.

Do the Magic really think he is the answer again?

Huh? I can't imagine a better fit. High pace, tough defense, run and gun, very athletic and long. It is like a Billy Donovan wet dream coaching scenario.

I didn't necessarily mean style wise, OKC will want a more proven NBA head coach, Billy will get a rebuilding franchise like Brad Stevens.

Ah I see. That's a fair point. I wonder how willing he'd be to start off somewhere that he has to build.

It'll last 20 seconds this time instead of 15

Guess it depends on just how much of a rebuild it would be, Celtics/Stevens type rebuild? I don't think he'd be very willing.

How?

You still have an Elite Program in Arkansas ready to steam roll the conference again....

And I wouldn't blame him. I know these coaches get sick of recruiting, but I can't imagine going from king of the castle to hoping you do well enough to not be fired in 2 years.

How old is his family? The change in job security would suck but worst case you just take the best college job available during that cycle after you get fired or go broadcast until one comes available and collect that buyout money.

The part that would suck about that would be moving your family, but if you're empty nest who cares

According to the google it looks like they are teenager-ish age. No age listed but there are pictures. Now I feel weird and creepy.

Not really. UK would hire Gregg Marshall or someone like Sean Miller.

Billy's agent is smart.

Doesn't have much to do with his agent, it has always been Foley's philosophy to either have a low buyout or no buyout at all. If the coach doesn't want to be here anymore, he isn't going to hold them hostage because of a buyout.

As for Donovan, this is the same thing we have been hearing for years. At this point I'll believe it when I see it. That said, if something were to happen relatively soon and Smart hasn't accepted the Texas job he would more than likely be the next coach.
