yeah... there's no doubt Big12 DBs see more pass-oriented teams, but seeing TTU's air raid offense may not actually develop you for the next level as much as UGA's pro-style, for instance.

Let's look at 1st-2nd round DB picks over the last 5 years:

2012:

SEC - 5 (4 1st, 1 2nd)
Big 12 - 0

2011:

SEC - 1 (1st)
Big 12 - 3* (2* 1st [Nebraska, Colorado], 1 2nd)

2010:

SEC - 4 (3 1st, 1 2nd)
Big 12 - 1 (1st)

2009:

SEC - 0
Big 12 - 2* (2nd, 1 from Missouri)

2008:

SEC - 1 (2nd)
Big 12 - 2* (1 1st, 1 2nd - Colorado)

So, over the last five drafts:

The SEC has had 8 1st round DBs and 3 2nd round DBs selected for a total of 11 in the first two rounds.

The Big 12 has had 4 1st round DBs and 4 2nd round picks. Of those picks, 2 first rounders were from schools no longer in the Big 12 and 2 second rounders were from schools no longer in the Big 12, including one currently in the SEC (Missouri)

In closing, Bobby Burton is a butthurt sip.

Getting burned every other play because the QB has all day to throw has to wipe some of the shine off of the ole image...I would guess.

the glorified run support comment is certainly not valid

His statement indicates he may not be well suited for his job.

It's a valid point

Regardless of whether Burton's classification of SEC DBs is proper, the explanation he requires is right before his face--path to the NFL.

There's nothing valid about the point.

Someone needs to send him tape of PP7 covering AJ and Julio (and I'm not saying PP7 won all those battles; I'm saying he won his share as a great DB). PP7, Mo, TM7 = back to back to back best DB in nation awards. This year = Milliner.

Tape won't help, because this isn't about whether there actually are good DBs in the SEC. Burton is a longhorn homer who's getting nervous that despite perhaps the best DB class in state of Texas history, the horns have yet to land a single verbal. Instead, all the blue chips are heading to the SEC.

So they can be the next PP7, Mo, Milliner and get drafted in top 10 and make millions.

just fyi, this is the guy that started Rivals. He sold out and then started 247. He's not really a national recruiting analyst. He owns 247. He's an unbelievable homer that tries to look unbiased. But this is just another in his long line of bullshite opinions. It wouldn't be so bothersome if the guy didn't somehow get national media respect as an expert on recruiting. But because of his position, he is able to spin news for the horns and he's not shy about doing so.

When i had Sirius, i would listen to rivals radio(2 hour show), and all of the tools on there, were horrible. Just a really bad show.

And the callers were the suck. Most were LSU,Alabama, and Florida fans, it seemed, and they would ask the same fricking question, call after call. I realize many were truckers, but for christs sake, the last 8 LSU callers(8 of last 10 callers) asked about the recruiting class, how about a new topic?? Bama truckers, the same thing.

Why else would you be listening to rivals if you did not want to know about recruiting?

That food channel does too much food related shows.

I really wish we had better receivers than Aj Green, Julio Jones, Cordarelle Patterson, Justin Hunter, and Alshon Jeffrey for our DBs to go against. Maybe then they wouldn't have to play run support so much
