I really think he is better than Geoff Collins. Texas became a dumpster fire and he was the fall guy.

cant find what LaTech was ranked 2013....but they had the 35th ranked defense this season.
And I wasn't all that impressed with his defense at MSu back in 2010.

I think it was a b-. But he spent a lot of time in tx. Pulled great... I mean serious talent to tx. I think he will be an improvement.

was just telling a buddy that this smells like a recruiting hire.
Not sure how I'd feel about bringing in a defensive coordinator only on his recruiting ability. Would be different if it was the OC with Mullen being basically the OC.

Those stats tell that he has an incredibly aggressive defense.....but prone to give up big plays because of it.
I think I remember the same of 2010 MSU's defense.
28th in defensive passing efficiency.
#1 in turnovers gained is pretty impressive though.

yeah, and I am terrified for our secondary next year. we were fine his first time around because our D was loaded, but now, not so much.
one area where he is an incredible upgrade is the halftime adjustment area. I saw a post that we averaged 9 points allowed in the 2nd half during his first tour

As an OM fan....there is a bit of hilarity for me regarding MSU fans saying they upgraded when Diaz left and Collins came in.
Now Collins leaves and Diaz is back.
In MSU fans' defense....most everyone claims they upgrade whenever they have a coaching change.

Chris Wilson was the immediate replacement. Anyone saying Collins was an upgrade was comparing to Wilson, not Diaz.

That was indeed Chris Wilson, and he was really bad. A huge step back from adiaz. Collins was a huge upgrade over Wilson.
