He throws for a lot of yards, but he also thows a lot interceptions. His quarterback rating is not very good

I just read back through the thread. You're going to have to point out where anybody downplayed UF's Sugar Bowl win. I can't find it.

You should apply the same logic from your "attempts lead to more yards" logic to his interception totals. He also throws a lot of touchdowns, which makes sense using the same logic.

Bart Starr is the only answer. He was on terrible teams in the mid-1950s at Alabama. He rode the bench his senior season of 1957. He was drafted in the later rounds of the NFL and ended up starting the Packers dynasty.
