My greatest fear, as far as Alabama football goes is as you'd imagine.. losing Saban. And losing Saban to the NFL has been, in my mind, the greatest probability. I have never been concerned that he'd leave Tuscaloosa for another college.

However, I was watching the Blindside for the first time last night, and it got me to thinking about the way Saban works, who he is, and how he does things.

What I propose to y'all is this:

Do y'all EVER think that NFL players would positively respond to the way Saban coaches? Do y'all think they'd respond to his personality? Do you think he could get them to do what he wanted them to do without changing the way he does things?

I don't. And I believe he knows himself better than to try again. I mean.. like he said guys... "This is only the beginning..."

why would Saban leave for the NFL? staying at Bama is a guaranteed NC every year. and he gets blown by rednecks and frat boys any time he wants.

Nick Saban was not horrible in the NFL like so many believe. I mean he was 9-7 with Gus Ferotte as his starting QB.

The following year he went 6-10 with Culpepper who ended up being done for as a starting NFL QB.

If another NFL team came calling and he thought it was the right fit, why wouldn't he go back?

No. Veteran players view coaches as peers instead of bosses. They don't respond to being yelled at.

No way Saban ever leaves Bama.

Saban's evil lifelong plan involves making LSU fans miserable. That's why he had to give them a taste of what it's like to be great...and take it away.

Saban is living his life's dream. Why would he want to leave?

Would NOT surprise me to see him bolt back to the NFL with a team that has some players....like Dallas or something like that. I mean, damn, if someone said "You make 4 Mil a year. I'm going to fricking DOUBLE it for you to coach here." Even if he didn't like the NFL as much, for $8mil or more a year? He'd be about stupid to NOT give it another shot and I wouldn't blame him. He doesn't owe anybody anything.

Please don't ever underestimate Saban's ego. That's not just jaded LSU BS. Don't think he doesn't watch Drew Brees heading toward a possible Super Bowl and think about how close he was to getting him in Miami and what a difference it would have made for his team. He is never satisfied...which makes him an animal of a coach...but it also makes him restless. No one thought Carroll would leave USC either. If he can leave S. California, don't think Saban can't leave east central Alabama.

Why doesn't Nick Saban ever have a buyout in his contract? That, in itself, is telling.
