Why?

If Spurrier retired this year how would feel about Hiring Muschamp as your Head Coach? Would he be the clear choice? If not, then I wouldn't want to offer the HCIW tag.

Exactly, and that is why is reeks of desperation and I doubt USCe would make that move.

Ok, let me show you what would be real.

Muschamp's track record as a DC is incredible, he could instantly fix our defense problems before next season, especially with the talent we have coming in.

Probably not the first year, but with another good recruiting year, we could field an elite defense in 2 years.

Then Muschamp takes over in 2-3 years as the HC, with a revamped defense.

SC gets continuity for recruiting, we tell recruits, "yeah, Spurrier is retiring in 2-3 years, but here is Muschamp, and he's going to be your HC after Spurrier." Muschamp is also a tremendous recruiter himself, we end up getting even better talent with him. Possibly even Cowart this year.

We also provide continuity with the other coaching staff members, we don't have to recruit/hire a new department, everyone has a place (that is good, waste gets fired before or after Muschamp's Ascension.

SC also get's a HC who knows the recruiting territory, already built relationships in recruiting efforts to SC, has fan support, knows the staff/coaches, and doesn't have to deal with a "what happens after Spurrier" coaching problem. The plan will be set in advance. This is a smart business move, AS LONG AS Muschamp comes to SC and performs well/fixes the defense.

Furthermore, you can't spell Muschamp without SC.

Spurrier is not going to retire this year, he said so, he said he'll be here 2-3 more years. He never said he was going to retire this year.

Read post above, this is the smarter play for continuity purposes. It sounds like the move has already been made by the reports on 247.

Well after Spurrier told the world hes retiring in 2-3 years (contract is up in 2017) it'd be nice to be able to show recruits who the next coach is gonna be

Yes I know. It was a hypothetical. If you had to hire a new head coach today, would it be Muschamp?

You have to imagine that IF we were to straighten out the issues we experienced on D this season, we could certainly be back in the discussion of SEC title contenders. From 2011 to the beginning of this season, Spurrier said he was having the most fun he'd had coaching in a while. Retirement seemed to be the furthest thing from his mind.

One bad season has brought back the talk about Spurrier hanging it up soon. Well, we're guaranteed to have him for at least one more season, and if 2015 turns out to be a success, we could have him for even longer.

If the answer to our D issues is Muschamp, I can see Spurrier staying on for at least 2-3 more years. That's plenty of time for Boom to learn valuable lessons on coaching an offense. A more offensively-competent Boom makes for a desirable HC, IMO.

There was also some reports that the deal is done. Until JC cam out with his insider notes.

Not nearly as much as you if he doesn't go to Auburn.

We'll rebuild the defense with or without him, we have options, recruits coming in and a asskicking AD & HC. However, we also have the cash and ability to make fantastic offers to great candidates. Sometimes, some offers are just better than others, it's a business.

If y'all want to hire a coach just so you can show recruits who will be the next head coach in 2-3 years then go ahead.

I'm just saying that's a really stupid reason to hire a Head Coach.

No, it'll just affirm to everyone that USCe will never be a contender.

Yeah, but that is a stupid deal from the USCe side but you can't see it.

Of course not, in order to be a HC at SC, you have to be a HOF HC with a Natty on the resume', we just had Holtz and Spurrier. We would most likely hire Saban, Meyer, or clone Spurrier and just roll with Darth Visor.

The entire USCe rumor reeks of Jimmy Sexton. Mushcamp just tacked on another 300k on his contract with Auburn and probably got a Jay Jacobs buy out

c'mon man, you know that people have different sources and sometimes it's bullshite, but sometimes what they say is true. JC also said if we offer the HCIW tag, he's coming to SC.
