DL yes, WR we will be significantly better at next year. We lose RoJo and the Freds are already better WR's than him.

Gabe Myles, Donald Gray, and Fred Ross are all better than Jameon.

I think it's fair to use the opening day depth chart considering they played better ball on the front end.

Return 7 of top 8 WR.

bit of a fluff stat in this topic.

couple of the guys in your top 8 only averaged slightly over one catch per game this season.

Not counting Justin Cox because he's no longer on the team.

What happened with him? Seems like he was a decent contributor for 9 games. 15 tackles, 5 PDs, and a pick...

Hit his girlfriend and Mullen kicked him off the team. Didn't play the last few games. Safety is our only question mark for next year.

There is depth chart from bowl game.

So from that, we return:

4 from offense, 4 from defense.

That doesn't tell the full story though.

For example, at WR, we "lose" Robert Johnson. He was the 7th WR in catches (14 catches). His back up, Fred Ross, was 3rd on the team (30 catches).

On defense, PJ Jones/Chris Jones split time. Each had 31 and 26 tackles, respectively.

Richie Brown, back uo MLB, was 6th on the team in total tackles. So he played a lot.

In the secondary, Hughes's back up, Evans, had more tackles. Redmond, Love's back up, led the team in INTs.

True story, they got in a fight and she poured bleach on his bed and couch.

Doesn't excuse it and I'm glad we kicked him off, but thats some Maury shite.

Agreed on Ross...

but looking at individual stats, Myles didn't get a single catch against GT, Ole Miss, Bama, and Arkansas. That's 4 out of the last 6 games. Most of his production came early in the season.

I don't even see that Donald Gray has a stat. Did he RS this season? Hard to count on production next season if so.

6 from offense. But let's be honest. They found a replacement for Lewis. They won't take a hit a rb either. If they struggle on offense it will be due to the ol where they replace 3. They have a juco that was redshirted coming to the ol. I believe another juco coming in this class. Maybe they can give insight to the rest.

On defense, 6 starters gone.... One may be a 6th year if granted. As many as they ran onto the field, they will have experience. Will it allow them to put ONE solid group out there? Don't know. What do they have coming in?

This was more Mullen being Mullen than a knock on Miles. When Lewis went down with an injury early Miles filled in for him very well. When Lewis came back Miles got buried back on the bench as we tried to force Lewis the ball. Lewis was not the same after his return IMHO

You underestimate the importance of DLinemen splitting time. We saw this in back with Nutt. We were solid 2-deep on the Dline in 2009. Became solid 1-deep the next year and they weren't nearly as dominant. Having a fresh Jones/Jones in the 4th is huge.

Which was when we were playing our best ball. Jameon came back and preceded to drop every throw that came his way.

Shumpert is solid...but not sure how good their depth is at RB past him.

This would be a more concerning thread if it were about depth at Ole Miss.
