that barely scratches the surface.
Both of his knees were down, yes. Not only that, his elbow was down, and the ground caused the ball to come out. So for starters, there is no conceivable way that the ball would have been ruled a fumble. On top of that, once the tech player got the ball, he ran backwards into his endzone where he was being tackled by a UGA player, then the play was whistled dead in the middle of the got damn play! It was just an absolute atrocity of a play that still blows my mind how anyone who dresses themselves in the mornign coudl frick up to that degree. Either the ball is down (correct call) and we get another chance from the goal line, or it's a safety.
And for the lsu fan who asked, it was a tie game with under a minute left so we clearly were going to win, but the game then went to ot where we lost.
the SEC office didn't even want to comment on the frick up until we basically forced them to. The SEC head of officials at the time? Guy named bobby gaston, a dual letterman at tech whose name is hanging up in the stadium.

I updated my other post with videos and articles. I still hate that call.

I was there for that game
my first trip to oxford. You got to witness a minor little footnote at that game. The previous week was when we played a dreadful colorado team and stafford was in I believe his 1st or 2nd game starting after JT went down. HE sucked it up badly for 3.5 quarters before Joe cox came in and saved the day with 2 TDs.
The next week in oxford Joe cox actually got the start over stafford, but was then benched because of his crappy play, and stafford came back in.
The only thing in particular I remember about that game (this was back in the liquor drinking days) was a long bomb to demiko goodman down the sideline to about the 10.

Walsh didn't kick it far enough that tribdon would have taken a knee, just far enough to give UGA a chance. Tribdon was the most dangerous returner in the country at the time. And again, LSU was only down a point and had a great kicker in Josh Jasper. The penalty def hurt but the biggest gaffe was UGA allowing a big return following that kick. They really should have squibbed it and forced LSU to pick up 30-40 yards for a field goal. It was a defensive standstill for most of the game. Kicking it to the fastest player in college football was prob not the best decision

1982 vs SMU and the pony express.Pass interference call late in the game to allow SMU to score and tie the game.
The ball was in catchable and the receiver ran up the back of our cb.As bad a call as I've ever seen.

Is that for real? A ref was allowed to officiate a game for the team of which he is a fan against their biggest rival, makes a clearly biased call that gives his team the game, and then goes and trolls the rival fan base on their message board using his own name? If that really happened, then that guy is my new fricking hero. That is the most boss shite I've ever heard. xD xD xD
Yep. I can confirm. He went by the handle J Taylor.
See below.

Most memorable "phantom" penalty calls against your team?

MetryTyger - only one of your three examples could be construed as a 'phantom' call. The rest of the post is simply an incoherent yet fascinating journey into the deep recesses of a lost soul.
While I truly respect your opinion and your right to have one - I must disagree.
While I got my facts slightly off in the first example (2013 Alabama game. It was 24-17 early in the 4th quarter when the phantom PI was called on LSU. Next play - TD 31-17 game over. Why is that not a phantom call. The LSU DB did not hit the receiver early.
The second one with Vadal Alexander retaliating because the Bama player would not let go of him FROM A SEATING POSTION ON THE GROUND. How in the everloving phuck is that not offsetting ??? Alexander did not push, punch or shove the Bama player - HE WAS SIMPLY TRYING TO GET HIM TO LET GO OF HIM!
The PP INT, well that speaks for itself. As for LSU not moving the ball the other way had the INT counted - what, does that make the bad call ALRIGHT?
You my friend, are responding like the 'lost soul.'
I respond 'obsessively' to OTHER Bama posts that are insulting or childish, that's why my responses aren't generally liked by you guys.
If you notice, I have never ever ever STARTED an insulting or demeaning post about Alabama. I only respond IN KIND to what some of you knuckleheads start.
There are many Bama fans and posts that I do NOT insult or respond to in a trolling way. You just seem to see the ones you want to see.....

That's the tool, was he also responsible for adding 1 second back to the clock after Tim expired and Nebraska won the big 12 in 2008? Letting the whorns kick a field goal after they had already lost the game

Actually yes it was because of one bad call in this game.
“A series of calls that have occurred during the last several weeks have not been to the standard that we expect from our officiating crews,” said Slive. “I believe our officiating program is the best in the country, however, there are times when these actions must be taken.”

"While only a few calls have been identified, the entire crew shoulders responsibility for each play. I have taken this action because there must be accountability in our officiating program,'' added Slive in his statement. "Our institutions expect the highest level of officiating in all of our sports and it is the duty of the conference office to uphold that expectation.''

It's pretty obvious that the league wants to protect its number 1 team on any given year. I really don't think that's debatable and i can't blame them.

I remember that game. Arkansas got screwed big time.

easily biggest replay robbery in sec history. I think LSU got screwed during that Auburn game when the refs somehow waived off the pass int call.

What about Phantom no-calls? Because LSU was offsides
you are correct. but I have to tell you that in my over 50 years of faithfully following LSU football that is the first time I can recall us ever being the recipient of a favorable call in such a critical situation. we may still have won tho and as "bad" as I felt at the time I now realize that everybody gets a good call every now and then and at least it preserved a victory over you aggies.
and brother I can recall several calls LSU did not get that cost us a game.
