I don't see anything wrong with that.

It's not just about percentage of applications that enroll; it's also about percentage of applications that are accepted, and percentage of accepted applications that enroll.

Those stats blow my mind. Texans get cheap tuition at A&M (and I'd assume t.u. and other state schools) but for out-of-state I might as well have sent my kids to SMU (expensive, for those who don't know). Is it that much different for Alabama?

I thought both Arky and LSU were giving in state tuition prices to Texas residents... Or has that stopped?

It's just as good as LSU...

That's possible, but for engineering fields I call BS. I know plenty of LSU engineers. Without exception they're all smart and proficient. I've never met anybody with a Tulane degree - at least, none that I know of.

BTW I didn't mean my post to be a slam against LSU. I was genuinely surprised.

LSU and UF kicked out.

Tulane you're back in.

UCF, welcome to the show.

UF for UCF sounds fair.

No idea. I know Louisiana and Mississippi have a mutual agreement like that (thankfully for my youngest). A&M for a Miss. resident was something nuts like 4x the LaTech rate for out-of-state students.

I paid $4.50/hour at A&M back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, only I really didn't pay that, either - the Army did. I remember the moaning and groaning when the rate was raised from $4/hr. Just a point of comparison to make you youngsters wish you were old.

I can explain why. There are many wealthy familes out there who will let their kid choose any school they want and mommy and daddy are willing to pay tuition in full over instate tuition and scholarships. A close friend of mines who is a lawer at a big law firm and his wife is a cpa at Delloite, send their daughter to study photography at Univ of South Carolina for full f***ing tuition over a free ride (hope scholarship) at UGA. People just have way too much disposable income. They had no family connection to South Carolina but their daughter really liked the campus so that is good enough for them.. whatever makes her happy.

I figured Southern Cal would be a landslide for that state.
