They had a really good team in 1995 (with Todd Helton and RA Dickey) but hit that buzzsaw of a team in CS Fullerton.

-Miss State had the talent to win in '85
-Florida got screwed by the home plate umpire in '05 on some crappy calls
-Arkansas... never had a chance...ever
-Gumps...LSU repeated in '97.
-Ole Miss...
-Texas A&M... LSU crushed their dreams in '89 and spanked them in the '93 CWS.
-Auburn... never had a chance
-Tennessee...had a couple of good runs, but never were a threat to win the CWS.

That is all folks.

Not bad.

You're right about Miss State in '85.

That was SCAR's only 0-2 trip in Omaha and we were fricking pissed at June Raines. I mean, look at our winning percentage in Omaha, it is the second highest in history .... even though we went 0-2 in '85. June was lucky he wasn't fired that year. We opened that CWS with game one against Arkansas and lost in 14 innings, which I believe was the longest CWS game played at the time ... lost to Arkansas.

But Miss State had Will The Thrill, Frank Davis, Van Cleeve that year, among others ... was Rafael on that team? I think he was maybe?

It's okay. They're still pissed about 3-2 from a few years back. Some Arkansas poster should have the freeze frame from the strike zone. It should be in his folders with the UF first down.

Yep ... that '85 MSU team was incredibly talented.

How they did not go farther .... ?
