Impressive. Although not as storied, we've been to 17 CWS in the last 29 years....
And y'all have won as many CWSC's in 16 trips as they have in 35...

The only team more impressive than LSU overall is USC... 12 CWSC's in 21 trips. But they've been in a drought since the early'00's...

Mississippi State & FSU; it is unbelievable how many times they've been, & the talent they've had but have never won it all.

And unless LSU is in Omaha with them, if one or both of them is in it, I find myself rooting for them.
At least State has made a Title Game/Series, has FSU ???
State was the class of SEC baseball for decades until the 90s, and has still remained one of the top 3 or 4 SEC programs since, if not 2 or 3...

FSU winning it would be akin to the Cubs winning the WS (thank you Steve Bartman )

To add to the Noles misery Id like to point out that Oregon St. has won 2 titles in just 4 CWS appearances.

I have kept up with FSU baseball bc Buster Posey & his brother Jack are from Lee County/Albany area. How they failed at winning one in their entire history is fricking insane & as the UGA poster said it is very similar to the Braves.

1) I didn't know we had baseball till like 2 years ago.
2) I didn't know we have won the NC, and have 6 final 4's.

We've missed making a Regional 3 times in the last 30 years ('88, '06 '07).
It's okay. I've tried blocking 2011 out of my head too.

-Miss State had the talent to win in '85
-Florida got screwed by the home plate umpire in '05 on some crappy calls
-Arkansas... never had a chance...ever
-Gumps...LSU repeated in '97.
-Ole Miss...
-Texas A&M... LSU crushed their dreams in '89 and spanked them in the '93 CWS.
-Auburn... never had a chance
-Tennessee...had a couple of good runs, but never were a threat to win the CWS.

That is all folks.

FSU was a baseball school before it was a football school. one would think they would force martin's retirement and go after some damn titles.
FSU was a girls' school before it was either!

Word is that if FSU makes it back 1 more time without winning, the NCAA is gonna award them a lifetime achievement honorary championship trophy (similar to the real one, only much smaller...actually it'll be pocket-sized).

I'd have probably given up on college baseball if I were a Florida State fan. that's the epitome of "close, but not enough"

SoCal .... while impressive, if you look at the changes in scholarship rules post 1972, you understand why SoCal was so dominant in the 60s and 70s. I mean they basically had a massively huge advantage ... as did all the old Southern California Baseball Association and the California Intercollegiate Baseball Association.

How do I know these things?

Because that page everyone is viewing on wiki, especially the breakouts of wins and the added entries at the bottom ... I wrote those. I'm the main wiki editor for that page and have been for years.

The breakout by Conference was the most difficult thing for me to get passed by the review board because the PAC 10 people wanted to argue that all SoCal, et al, championships were owned by the PAC 10, when in fact they were not. So I actually had to make calls to the NCAA and read the history books ... but anyways.

When you see the "scrooster" edits on the CWS page for the past 12 years ... that's me.

I know all of that history and the stats like the back of my hand.

Full disclosure ... we actually work that article basically by committee these days and we have to fight-off a ton of vandalism, especially in June during the CWS, every year. The worst have historically been the SoCal fans. Although, PAC fans, as a whole, have been respectful to the article. They're a helluva baseball conference.
