If I didn't have to upgrade I would watch the B1G network. They show some great classic games from the 90s and early 2000s that I would love to watch again.

The problem is the Big 12 folks still do not get it. Football is a Fall sport which leaves Winter, Spring, and Summer. They are like the B1G with just a few top schools and lots of crap below it. Certainly no year round depth from all 10 schools. Hell, I think they only have 8 baseball teams.

If the conference only networks gain traction it will be from LIVE content 24 / 7 / 365 and each quarter will need enough teams and games to make folks tune in after the regular football season is over as the bowl games and NCAA basketball tourney are not going to be restricted to a conference network. The SEC has the eye candy in volleyball (Fall) / Gymnastics (Winter) / Softball (Spring) to get eyeballs in the non football / basketball / baseball time slots.

The fall football and replays the rest of the year are yesterdays thinking. Live programming is where the future is and the SEC should excel in this area.

The fact that the SEC has dominated baseball almost as well as it has dominated football bodes well. Add in great gymnastics, softball, golf and tennis and you have lots of live programming. The SECN works because the SEC is full of champions across the board. If the lady Vols were still dominate we would have all bases covered for men's and women's sports.

IMO.....the only way this pathetic conf is killed is if a one loss OU/whorn conf champion is left out of the playoff. Just think if a undefeated big 12 champ is left out? Man on man.....

Golf and tennis seem to be a big wildcard. Seems folks tune in for team sports easier and golf and tennis at the pro level will get those single athlete viewers. Still not sure how T&F will do.

SEC W basketball is way more than just the Lady Vols. Look at depth (at least half the SEC women have been to a Final Four) and volume (LSU and UGA have been 5 times each) of the better teams and W basketball may the most competitive sport in the SEC.

My favorite thread about the SECN is the one on ShaggyBevo where, after the network was announced, the guy says it will be a massive failure and won't exist in a decade.

Most successful Network launch in history.

I think he got it confused with the LHN

True but when you had the face of WCB in your conference it makes your brand that much better. Summit was WCB in her prime

I'll say this. The last current SEC team to win a WBB title...is A&M (2011).

My hope is the additional $'s from the network will allow the SEC schools to add back in some of the men's sports that have been cut due to title IX.

In the perfect world, that's what should happen, in reality dipshit coaches will get huge salary boosts and the athlete only facilities will become 7* hotel quality.

Would love to see the SEC get behind wrestling, tennis, hockey, lacrosse, equestrian, and give full scholarships to baseball players. We'd keep more HS draft picks if they could get full rides and not just decimal point scholarships.

No doubt inventory is where the SEC is going to excel. The PAC 12 might do so as well.

You're right ... a lot of potential for eye candy. Sand Volleyball has some real potential. I'm loving the SC Sand Volleyball team.

But the operative word among the SEC ADs is not "programming." It's "inventory." Programming and Inventory are two different things.

Here's irony:

10 years ago, while LSU was beating Oklahoma, Stoops was whining because only the Big 12 and SEC had to play a championship game. The PAC 10 and Big Ten didn't have to, which gave them an easier road (paraphrasing).

Now, his tone is, "we're the only conference that has one true champion because we all play each other"

Who gives a shite? I don't give a shite what happens to anyone else in the conference but OU/KU (my second team)/Texas (strictly for OU/Tx). Other than that I couldn't give a shite less about the other teams in my conference or what happens to them. Something you SEC mouthbreathers don't understand.

That right there sums up why that conference is Dead Man Walking.

I had DirectTV for about 8 yrs and just recently switched to Dish to cut my bill in half. I have FS1 and FoxSW. But no Fox SW okla. channel . I never noticed the LHN on my DirectTV network but it is on the Dish Network with Sec,and Pac12 Network.
When i noticed the SEC Network on my package i admittedly called Dish to take it off, along with the LHN. I was told it came with the Sports package i applied for. I told them when they come to work Monday morning and see a receiver has been thrown threw their front window then they will know it was mine.

No one tell that guy that Dish was founded by a Tennessee Alum. Or about Dish's deal with us. I want to hear him tell a company founded by a UT fan and alum not to carry the SEC network.

I turned it over to the SECN last night for all of two minutes. If that long. And that was my exact reaction - this looks like ****ing ESPNU.

And then I turned over to ESPNU..and they've got Reece Davis, Butch Davis and Danny Kannell at an Auburn practice...talking about the SEC.

And so I turned over to CBS Sports Network because the guide said "college football preview". And of course...it was an SEC preview. You couldn't make this shite up.

Meanwhile, FS1 was showing second rate MMA or Poker or whatever. ****ing hell FOX, get your shite together and let's have an alternative to this shite.

The Big 12's footprint is so small as well. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, and West Virginia. And they only have 2 football teams that draw national interest. Plus, the Longhorn Network will prevent the conference as a whole from ever having a network. It will eventually be the only Big 5 conference without a network and it is going to be a major competitive disadvantage for OU, Kansas, etc who will have by far the lowest revenues in the Big 5 due to the greed of UT.
