Mizzou. Was picked to finish towards bottom now have a shot to win the conference. Only loss was in 2ot. Not bad.

This thread will be irrelevant next week after we dominate Auburn.

But regardless Mizzou's run is more impressive, they are playing in Atlanta. A&M had the more impressive game, but you play 12.

How the hell could anyone say Aggies had a better run last year than what Mizzou has done this year?

I'm not necessarily saying that, but I would say that A&M's run last year is more impressive than teams that have won the East recently. I personally think Mizzou beating the GOAT last night swings the argument in their favor.

Mizzou Year 2.

Another mediocre record and Pinkel is fired. Instead, he's in the SECCG.

The truth is that both of the "Big 12 bros" have been impressive in the SEC.

Kind of shits all over the critics when these programs moved to the SEC.

Many jimmies have been rustled.

I'm absolutely impressed with Pinkel. Holy shite, man. You guys don't exactly tear it up in recruiting, but Pinkel just develops the frick out of players.

Remarkable coach.

This. Both runs are impressive and they both came when everyone thought the two teams would have a rough time. It really brings validation to the Slive's decision to expand and shows that our 'replacements' in the Big Dumpster Fire conference were really just a quick fix to save face and aren't comparable to their actual loss.

Don't see us dominating Auburn. If Bama doesn't stop their run game, we're not.

It happens all the time. There is far more parity than most would like to acknowledge, and Colt's nerve ending, Baylor shell shocking K-State, Oklahoma State choking, and any other series of events that have lead to the SEC's run of BCS Titles have aboslutely nothing to do with SEC dominance. The rhetoric about both programs was stupid. Coaching and players. Nothing prevents A&M or Missouri from getting talented players and coaches capable of competing and winning at the highest level. Anyone that bought in to the belief that A&M would suck because of the Fran and Sherman eras, or Mizzou would suck because they are Yankees, is just stupid. And let's be honest, there were plenty. The majority of people felt that way in fact.

Both seasons were impressive, for different reasons.

Last year, we trotted out a new coach--in a new league--and notched some pretty significant wins (many more than anyone gave us a shot in hell at achieving). COTY, Heisman, top draft picks ... it was a special season.

Mizzou, otoh, had to put up w the obligatory SEC shitstorm comments from other schools' whiney fans, along w a tough year on the field; yet they rebounded w a phenomenal 2013.

If I had to choose, I'd say Mizzou this year. And I raise my glass to 'em. But I wouldn't change our inaugural season for anything.

The argument that what all A&M did in the West last year was better would be a lot more persuasive if we hadn't gone 2-0 vs the West ourselves this year, but we did.

That said, it may still be too early to make this call. If Mizzou wins next weekend I think it completely ends the debate. If Mizzou say loses next weekend but wins its bowl game so you are comparing a 12-2 non-SEC champ Mizzou with an 11-2 non-SEC champ A&M, it gets to be a real legit debate.

The question is how long each program can sustain their emotional high's of playing for respect in a new league where they were told they didn't stand a chance. That plays a big part in both runs IMO.

A&M's wave seems to be coming to an end. Mizzou may get a championship out of theirs. However, neither will sneak up on anybody or be the new kid on the block forever.

You are right. Missouri only had to beat an inferior A&M team.

What does this mean? These narrative are silly. Skip Bayless talking points aren't how sports work.

The next time you through out an opinion, I'd ask you to watch this first.

Funny because when we came in everyone was saying "it's going to be a few years for you to adjust and develop depth needed to win in the SEC".. now it's "you only have so long to run on that 'emotional high', better get it in while you can."

Let's be honest, neither team is in a hurry or in a waiting game to start winning. We've both done it and can continue to win in this conference despite these outside perceptions that other teams' fans keep putting on us.
